🎓 Last weekend, we were in Krakow for the ESICM 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀, 𝗦𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲, endorsed by the Polish Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy (PTAiIT).

An outstanding multidisciplinary faculty and highly engaged participants made for rich, practical discussions.

💡 As the third stop in the series (after Porto and Sinaia), the course once again highlighted a key message: while practices may differ, the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀, 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗖𝗨𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲.

🤝 Many thanks to Andrew Conway Morris, Claire Roger, Anna Włudarczyk and Mirosław Czuczwar, the local hosts of , to bioMérieux for its continuous support, and to all participants and faculty members for making the course such a success.

We look forward to continuing these important conversations in future editions.

In Episode 5 of this series, we discuss with Prof. Lluís Blanch how mechanical ventilation remains a cornerstone of intensive care, but innovation in this field now extends far beyond the ventilator itself.

💡 Today, advances in monitoring, data analytics, decision-support systems, and artificial intelligence are transforming the way clinicians manage critically ill patients

🌍 This week, an ESICM delegation participated in the WHO and SESAM meeting "𝗦𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵: 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻" at the WHO Academy in Lyon, France.

💡 Representing ESICM and national societies were Michelle Chew (SFAI, Sweden), Andrew Conway Morris (ICS, UK), Olfa Hamzaoui (SRLF, France), János Szederjesi (SRATI, Romania) and Melania Istrate (ESICM).

👉 The morning plenary sessions highlighted the critical role of simulation-based learning in strengthening health systems and preparing healthcare professionals for future challenges. As recent years have shown, the question is not whether the next health crisis will happen, but when.

👉 In the afternoon workshop sessions, participants focused on concrete projects and future actions, exploring how collaboration can help translate ideas into impact.
The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to identify future partnerships.

Because when it comes to strengthening healthcare systems worldwide, we do not want to go fast alone - we want to go far together!
