Deep gratitude on this day of Guru Purnima.
Today as the full moon reflects the light of the sun, we celebrate the teachers who illuminate our path with their wisdom, their guidance.

It is a very auspicious day to meditate, to reflect and to start a new practice, or renew the commitment to an existing one.

Today I am grateful to my teachers, and the teachings for they inspire me to keep up with my practice and to shine my light brightly.

« Without mastery of our attention, there is no mastery of life. »
~ Anand Mehrotra

Pay attention where you put your attention throughout your day.

When you walk on the street, are you lost in your thoughts?
When you prepare your dinner, are you fully present as you cut your vegetables or are you thinking about work, or a conversation you had earlier on?

Whatever you give your attention to grows! It is what prevails in your life.

Cultivating our ability to be present is an essential part of the practice of yoga, of meditation.
We cultivate our ability to focus on what and where we want to invest our energy and our attention.

By cultivating our awareness on a regular basis, we allow ourselves to enhance the staying power of our awareness, our ability to be anchored within our true self (and not ego self).

We can not change things that we are not aware of.
It’s that simple!

Only with a consistent practice of coming back to the present moment can we be more whole, add more value into our life, and eventually master our life!

Our breath is a great tool for that.

Let your breath bring you back to the present, to yourself.

Because this is where your life happens, right here, right now.

So pay attention!

Musings in Berlin these last few days. Letting the days unfold, following my intuition between art, architecture and tea breaks.
Letting the sun remind me what spring feels like.
Filling my batteries.
Feeling inspired on so many levels.
My cup is full.

Some of you might know that I used to work in the fragrance industry.
Today I often get asked sound baths are and off course I can explain you all the details, but I like the analogy of smelling a perfume to describe this experience.

If I tell you that a perfume is made of rose, bergamot, patchouli and sandalwood, you might have an olfactory understanding of each component, but it will be hard to imagine what the finished fragrance smells like (depending on each ingredient, their dosage, how they interact, and off course on the perfumer’s interpretation).

You have to smell the fragrance to know how it smells.
As simple as this.

The same thing happens with sound healing.

I can tell you that the vibrations of the crystal bowls will enable your brain waves to harmonize, your heart and mind to come into a more coherent state.
I can go into more details and give you examples of how this holistic and integrative practice supports your whole system by releasing stress, anxiety, fatigue, pain.
How it promotes better sleep, calms your busy mind, brings you clarity and focus….

The list of positive effects is long, but to know what a sound bath is, you need to attend one!

Next Wednesday 26th 7pm I will be giving a sound bath with my crystal bowls. In person in Ixelles and also online.
Contact me for more details.

Have you ever attended a sound bath with crystal bowls?
Do you have any questions on this practice?
I would love to hear.

Sitting still
Savoring a Japanese sencha
I draw my attention inwards
Listening to what my body is telling me
Tasting the tea, its softness and its warmth, its aromas
Feeling it with all my senses
Listening to the conversation happening inside of me
Lingering
Eyes open
Soft gaze
Feeling the present moment
Listening
Feeling my breath
Paying attention to my inner world

A meditation in a cup of tea

M I C R O - P A U S E S

I feel that there is an ever growing feeling of overwhelm at the moment. Pressure on ourselves to achieve, the growing to do list, the comparison to what we think other people are doing… and it goes on and on.

The little voice in our head thrives in this negativity, in this “comparisonite “ and leaves us feeling a deep sense of lack and inadequation.

So today, can we reset all this and come back to ourselves, come back to the present moment instead of future or past tripping.

What about micro-pausing?

Since we seem to think we don’t have time and we have to do things, why not integrate micro doses of silence and stillness into our day?

Every now and then, as you change activity or move from one place to another, just be still for a few breaths. You can even put a reminder in your phone or set the alarm to go on every hour (like digital watches beeping once on the hour)

Taking a few respirations in silence,
maybe with your eyes closed.
Feel the breath enter your body.
Feel it at your nostrils, feel your lungs filling up with the breath and releasing it.
Feel that you are moving from fast forward to slow motion.

This is a micro pause, but your whole attention is with you.

All movement starts in stillness

Everything starts in stillness.

Tomorrow I am off to India for a month of yoga immersion. Such a joy to go back after a long hiatus and to dive deep in all things yoga: movement, breath, chanting, kriyas, meditation and all of life that yoga is.
The photo above was taken in the spring of 2015 when I first went to study with . This was the start of a beautiful journey that keeps unfolding. When I am attuned to my dharma, to love and to the deep truth within myself, life unfolds and supports me effortlessly.
I can’t wait to finally study with .
Each step of my journey brings me a little closer to myself.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
