What happens to the medication left in an opened pack? 🤔

From 1 January 2027, changes to antibiotic dispensing in Belgium will require pharmacies to dispense the exact quantity needed for certain treatments when no suitable pack size is available. This creates a new challenge: correctly managing the medication that remains in an opened pack.

Meditech already offers functionality for managing split packages. For medication managed at pill level, opened packs can be prioritised by the robot and pharmacy teams can consult the available stock from these packs. 👌

This keeps remaining medication organised, visible and ready for the next dispensing.

Ever wondered what happens to a medication box once it enters a Meditech pharmacy robot? 🤔

Follow the life of a box and discover the journey behind pharmacy automation. It starts at our Optimat QL, where the box is automatically scanned, identified and checked before entering the robot. From there, it finds its place in storage until it is needed again.

When requested, the journey continues. The box moves through the robot, can make its way to MT.SPEED for high-speed dispensing or travel towards one of the different exits, ready to arrive exactly where it is needed. 🚀
