Genio is a bilateral, leadless neurostimulation solution powered by a sleep wearable to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Genio is a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea using neurostimulation of the tongue. It has been developed by Nyxoah for patients who cannot tolerate, have failed or have refused CPAP therapy.

❌ Myth: You always know when you’ve had a bad night’s sleep.

Breathing pauses and brief awakenings during sleep often go unnoticed. Many people with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) therefore don’t remember waking up during the night. This means the sleep disorder itself can go unnoticed, while its effects may become apparent during the day — for example, through tiredness, fatigue or difficulty concentrating.

🧔 Can I have a beard with Genio®️?

We get this question a lot. Having a beard isn't a problem, but it's important to keep the area directly under your chin free of facial hair.

For Genio®️ to work effectively, the adhesive patch needs to stick securely to your skin. This ensures reliable communication between the wearable and the implanted neurostimulator throughout the night. 🌙

💤 Not all cases of sleep apnoea are the same.

Generally speaking, a distinction is made between mild, moderate and severe OSA. This classification is based on the so-called Apnoea-Hypopnoea Index (AHI). This indicates how often breathing stops or becomes shallow during an hour of sleep.

Regardless of its severity, sleep apnoea can affect your quality of life and should be taken seriously. ⚠️
