Embroidery carries an ancient feminine memory.
Long before women could freely write their stories, many stitched them into fabric. Into clothing. Into ceremonial cloths. Into the hidden language of thread, symbols and hands moving rhythmically together.
To weave, stitch and embroider is more than decoration.
It is slowness.
It is presence.
It is prayer moving through the body.
Each stitch becomes a moment of listening.
A moment where memory, emotion and meaning can gently surface.
In Memory in Stitches, we weave our menstrual story because the body remembers.
The womb remembers.
The nervous system remembers.
And thread has a mysterious way of helping us touch memories that words alone sometimes cannot reach.
The fabric becomes a symbolic skin.
The needle becomes a bridge between pain and wisdom.
The thread becomes connection: between past and present, between the menstrual girl we once were and the woman we are becoming, between body, Earth and soul.
Across cultures, women have gathered around textile arts for centuries: weaving together, mending together, singing together, healing together.
There is something profoundly restorative in creating with our hands while sitting in circle.
Sometimes healing arrives one stitch at a time. 🌹
