We want to ensure you are aware of a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak linked to eggs in Belgium.

Main points for awareness:
“Laerco BV [Herentals, Belgium] issued a recall of eggs bearing four batch codes ("2-BE-1073-1" through "2-BE-1073-4"), with best-before dates ranging from 08 May to 05 Jun 2026; consumers were advised to return products for a refund.” (BeaconBio)
Please check any egg supplies to ensure you do not have the batch codes listed above. If present, please return these products for a refund at the purchase location.
Food recalls have been extended from Belgium to France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
From 19 Feb 2025 to 11 May 2026, 236 cases have been reported (ages 1-96) with no deaths.
Salmonella Enteritidis infections are caused by bacteria commonly found in animals. Humans are typically exposed by eating undercooked or contaminated food.
Infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals are most at risk of severe illness and hospitalization from Salmonella Enteritidis infection.
Symptoms can include diarrhea, fever, stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. While symptoms typically last for a few days, severe dehydration can require a need for hospitalization.

Today marks Dr. McComb’s final day in the clinic, and it’s hard to put into words how much she will be missed. She consistently put her patients before herself, often sacrificing her own time and energy to make sure others were cared for. Her compassion, dedication, and kindness touched countless lives and made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. The clinic will not be the same without her steady presence and unwavering commitment to patient care. We are deeply grateful for all she has given and wish her nothing but happiness and success in this next chapter.

On 29 April 2026, Brussels Army Health Clinic-NATO recognized Denim Day, a global movement that began in 1999 following an Italian Supreme Court decision. The court overturned a r**e conviction, arguing that because the victim wore tight jeans, she must have helped remove them, thereby implying consent.

In response to this ruling, women in the Italian Parliament wore jeans to work in solidarity. Today, we wear denim to protest destructive misconceptions surrounding sexual assault, to stand against victim-blaming, and to demonstrate our unwavering support for survivors.
