We are delighted to share that Punakha District Hospital started its journey in the football tournament organized by Punakha Central School with a victory in our opening match! 🎉

Our sincere gratitude to the hospital administration for providing financial support for our participation. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff members who generously sponsored refreshments and to everyone who came to cheer us on. Your support and encouragement inspired us to give our best.

We would like to sincerely thank Mrs. Khina Maya of Hotel Kumar 2, Lobesa, for her generous donation of two ceiling fans, received on 25 June 2026. The fans have been installed in front of the Emergency Room (ER), where they will help improve comfort for our patients and visitors.

A Heartfelt Note of Appreciation

Punakha Hospital would like to express its sincere gratitude to Ap Dollay, a well-known TikToker, for his unwavering support, generosity, and volunteer spirit. His recent contribution of lunch for all admitted patients and hospital staff, along with the donation of toothbrushes and toothpaste for patients, reflects his deep compassion and commitment to community service.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to Maekey Wangchuck, a TikToker, who together with Ap Dollay generously donated a water boiler and an oven for the benefit of our admitted patients. Their thoughtful contribution will greatly enhance patient comfort and support the delivery of quality care.

Furthermore, we are grateful to Bumzang Construction for kindly providing towels for our admitted patients, helping to improve their comfort and well-being.

The kindness and generosity of Ap Dollay, Maekey Wangchuck, and Bumzang Construction have made a meaningful difference to our patients and staff. We remain deeply thankful for their invaluable support and commendable contributions to Punakha Hospital.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Punakha Hospital.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Punakha play a vital role in providing timely pre-hospital care, emergency response, and safe transportation of patients to health facilities. Paramedics and pilots are often the first healthcare providers to reach patients during medical emergencies, accidents, disasters, and critical illnesses

In an effort to ensure efficient patient care and effective management, the Paramedics and Pilots conducted a drill today which included Basic and advanced life support, spinal protection, loading and unloading patients, securing (pictorial evidence of how protected a well strapped patient is). It also included minor procedures, such as preparing an IV fluid or assisting the Paramedics maintain aseptic conditions while doing sterile procedures.
The main focus also went on how to protect one’s bodies while helping others by using proper body mechanics when lifting injured people.

The EMS system in Bhutan is coordinated through the national 112 Health Help Centre, which dispatches ambulances and provides emergency assistance nationwide. Ambulance services are available 24/7 hours day and night.

The mission of EMS is to preserve life, prevent further injury, promote recovery, and ensure every patient receives timely and professional emergency care

The Buddha temple and garden in front of the main building of Punakha Hospital was constructed in 2012 as a tribute to His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo on the auspicious occasion of the 60th Birth Anniversary. The sacred space continues to stand as a symbol of peace, gratitude and inspiration for all.
The initiative was led by the then Medical Officer In-Charge, Dr. Choeda Gyeltshen, now Medical Superintendent of Central Regional Referral Hospital, Gelephu.
