A new systematic review evaluates the evidence for Ayurvedic management of ADHD in children and adolescents. Of 231 studies identified, eight met inclusion criteria, examining interventions including ๐ต๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘œ๐‘๐‘Ž ๐‘€๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘›๐‘–๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘–, ๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘–๐‘Ž ๐‘†๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘›๐‘–๐‘“๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž, and ๐‘†โ„Ž๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘œ๐‘‘โ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘Ž-based therapies. ๐ต๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘œ๐‘๐‘Ž ๐‘€๐‘œ๐‘›๐‘›๐‘–๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘– was associated with improved attention and impulse control in up to 85% of children studied, with additional benefits reported for scholastic performance and behavioural symptoms across other interventions.

However, methodological quality across the evidence base was limited: five studies were assessed as high risk of bias, and only one met low-risk standards. The authors conclude that while these findings are encouraging, larger and more rigorous randomized controlled trials are needed before Ayurvedic interventions can be considered an established approach to ADHD management in this population.

The right causes and conditions for the Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa

Bhutan Sorig Journal was established on 17 December 2023 to serve as a platform for academic and scientific discourse on Sowa Rigpa. Its vision was to serve as an archive and repository of research in traditional medicine, not only in Bhutan but also in the South Asian region. Over four issues in 2024 and 2025, we published 25 peer-reviewed articles on a wide range of topics.

To broaden the representation of traditional medicine knowledge, philosophies, skills, know-how and practices from around the world, while continuing to promote research on Sowa Rigpa, we have expanded the scope of the journal and renamed it the Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa, effective from Volume 3, Issue 1 (May 2026).

The Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa is not a new journal. It is a continuation of what was formerly published as Bhutan Sorig Journal with the same editorial team, functioning with the same commitment to maintaining scientific quality and publication standards. The journal will continue its volume and issue numbering, preserving the continuity of its publication record.

Journal Title Change Announcement

The Journal Office is pleased to inform our authors, reviewers, and readers that the Bhutan Sorig Journal has been renamed the Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa, effective from the May 2026 issue.

This change reflects our commitment to broadening the scope of the journal to publish high-quality research on all forms of traditional medicine from around the world while continuing to promote scholarship in Sowa Rigpa. The new title better represents the journalโ€™s expanded vision and its role as a repository of knowledge on traditional medicine globally.

All articles published in the Bhutan Sorig Journal will remain permanently archived and accessible through the Bhutan Sorig Journal website. From July 2026 onwards, all new manuscript submissions will be processed through the Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa website. Manuscripts currently under editorial processing in the Bhutan Sorig Journal submission system will continue to be handled through the existing system until a final editorial decision has been made.

To ensure continuity and recognition, the statement โ€œFormerly published as Bhutan Sorig Journalโ€ will appear on all issues and publications of the Journal of Traditional Medicine and Sowa Rigpa until 2029.

The Bhutan Sorig Journal (BSJ) Author and Reviewer Training (16โ€“22 March 2026) concludes today after an enriching 7-day journey of learning and collaboration. Organized by National Centre for Traditional Medicine Servicesin collaboration with Faculty of Traditional Medicine support by Bhutan Foundation.

The BSJ, managed by the Faculty of Traditional Medicine, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan, promotes research in Sorig (traditional Bhutanese medicine) and allied health sciences. It provides a platform for scholars to share evidence-based findings, engage in scholarly dialogue, and contribute to the preservation and advancement of Bhutanโ€™s traditional medical knowledge.

This workshop strengthened skills in scientific writing, research methodology, and peer review processes equipping participants to produce high-quality manuscripts and conduct structured peer reviews following international standards such as the EQUATOR Network

Bhutan Sorig Journal is an official publication of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine, launched on 17 December 2023. The journal is successfully indexed with Crossref for DOI, and in the coming years, the journal management team aspires to obtain additional indexing certifications.
