Wangdue Hospital extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Nima Phuntsho, Pediatrician, on the publication of the research article, โ€œPrevalence, Clinical Profile, and Factors Associated With Congenital Heart Disease in Children Diagnosed at National Referral Hospital, Bhutan: A Cross-Sectional Study,โ€ in the peer-reviewed journal Health Science Reports.

Co-authored by Dr. Yeshey Dorjey and Dr. Kuenley Pedon, this important study contributes valuable evidence on congenital heart disease (CHD) among children in Bhutan.

๐Ÿ“–Research Highlights:
The study found a hospital prevalence of 5.4 cases of congenital heart disease per 1,000 pediatric patients, with atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD), and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) being the most commonly diagnosed conditions. The findings highlight the importance of early diagnosis, prenatal screening, and timely referral, which are essential for improving health outcomes and quality of life for children born with congenital heart disease.

We congratulate Dr. Nima Phuntsho and the co-authors on this commendable achievement and thank them for their valuable contribution to pediatric research and child health in Bhutan.

Today is World Hypertension Day.
High blood pressure - or hypertension - often shows no warning signs, yet it increases the risk for heart disease, stroke, blindness, dementia, and other complications.

A simple blood pressure check can be life-saving.

Getting your blood pressure measured the right way helps ensure accurate results.
Incorrect positions can lead to incorrect readings.

โœ” Sit with your back supported
โœ” Legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor
โœ” Arm supported with the cuff at heart level
โœ” Use correct cuff size
โœ” Rest for at least 5 minutes before the reading
โœ” Do not talk during or between measurements
โœ” Avoid exercise, tea/coffee, and smoking for at least 30 minutes before reading

Small steps can make a big difference in protecting your health.
