✈️ Ever been on a plane and felt like your ears suddenly feel weird, blocked, or full?

👂 It’s usually just a pressure change as the plane goes up or down.

😌 Your ears will naturally adjust, so give them some time.

🚫 Don’t try to force the pressure out by aggressively plugging your nose and blowing.

⚠️ I’ve seen people injure their ears doing this because they’re blowing way too hard.

🧠 Be patient, swallow, yawn, or gently chew gum and let your ears adjust naturally.

✈️ Your ears are doing exactly what they’re supposed to do!

🦻 Here’s a simple way to clean your hearing aids using a disinfecting cloth.

🧼 Gently wipe down the outside of your hearing aids to help keep them clean and free from everyday buildup.

⚠️ Just make sure the cloth isn’t soaking wet, and avoid getting moisture into the openings, microphones, or speaker.

✨ A little regular cleaning can go a long way in keeping your hearing aids working properly!

Why do people feel like they can hear better after yawning?

Have you ever yawned and suddenly felt like your hearing “opened up”?

There’s actually a reason for that.

When you yawn, the muscles around your jaw and ear move, which can slightly change the shape and position of your ear canal.

Believe it or not, when I’m taking hearing aid impressions for clients, I’ll sometimes have them do an open jaw impression because the ear canal moves when your jaw opens.

If you have earwax buildup, a yawn could even shift the wax slightly, allowing sound to travel differently and making things seem clearer.

So that feeling like your ears opened after a yawn isn’t just in your head.

Your ears are actually moving.

Hearing aids can make a huge difference, but sometimes they’re only part of the solution.

We recently had a client whose voice was so soft that, even with hearing aids, their loved one still struggled to understand them.
