In Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST), a foot hold serves as a non-invasive "listening station" for the practitioner to tune into the client's body's subtle fluid rhythms and interconnected fascial web.

The practitioner applies a very light, stationary touch to the feet, with no manipulation, massage, or forced pressure.

The feet (or ankle) holds allow the practitioner to perceive primary respiration, slow, subtle fluid tide, and tension patterns rippling through the whole body.

This neutral contact helps ground the client, signaling safety to the autonomic nervous system and allowing deep tension to naturally release.

You remain completely dressed in comfortable clothing while lying on a treatment table. You might feel gentle warmth, a melting of tight tissue in the legs or lower back, or deep relaxation. The touch is always negotiated to match your comfort level and what your nervous system is ready to process.

*What can happen after a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy session?*

One of the most common questions asked of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists is: “Is it normal to feel different after a session?”

Yes. The process does not end when the session is over. The organism may continue to integrate for several hours or even days afterwards – a natural process in which the nervous system, fluids, and tissues gradually incorporate the changes that took place during the session.

Everyone responds differently. Some people leave feeling light, calm, and more energised. Others may experience tiredness, a need for sleep, or deeper rest. Breathing patterns, posture, or the perception of pain may also shift. Some people notice more vivid dreams, increased emotional sensitivity, or a heightened awareness of their body.

These experiences are not the goal of the therapy. Rather, they can be a natural part of the organism’s reorganisation as it draws on its own inherent capacity to restore balance.

In Body Intelligence training, we learn that the therapist does not bring health into the body. Health is already inherent within the organism. The role of the therapist is to create safe conditions in which the body can once again access its natural self-regulating and restorative capacities. For this reason, changes often continue long after the session has ended.

*How can you support integration?*

After a session, it is helpful to allow yourself extra time and space. If possible, avoid excessive physical or mental strain, drink plenty of water, and pay attention to what your body is communicating. It can also be useful to note any changes you observe over the following days – they are often subtle, yet meaningful.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy does not aim to suppress symptoms quickly. Instead, it respects the organism’s own pace and supports its natural capacity to return to balance.

*Why Is One Session Usually Not Enough?*

One of the most common questions Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy practitioners hear is:

"How many sessions will I need?"

The most honest answer is: It depends on what your body is trying to change.

The human body is not a machine that can simply be repaired. It is a living, adaptive system where the nervous system, fluids, fascia, and tissues are constantly interacting.

Many physical and emotional patterns do not appear suddenly. They develop gradually—sometimes over months or years—as the body adapts to stress, injury, or overwhelming experiences. These patterns are not failures; they are often intelligent survival strategies that once helped the organism stay balanced and functional.

And just as they develop over time, they also need time to change.

In Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, we do not force change. We support the conditions in which the nervous system can gradually return to regulation, allowing the body to reorganise long-held patterns at its own pace.

Each session builds on the previous one. The body integrates what has shifted, finds a new sense of stability, and only then reveals what is ready to emerge next. This process cannot be rushed and is different for everyone.

This does not mean therapy should continue endlessly.

The goal is never dependence on the practitioner.

On the contrary—the aim is to strengthen the body’s natural capacity for self-regulation, so that over time the need for treatment naturally decreases.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is not a quick fix. It is a way of supporting deeper, more sustainable change by working with the body’s inherent intelligence.

🌿 Thank you Body Intelligence for this write up.

What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?

I am trained to facilitate the resolution of conditions resulting from stress, overwhelm, and injury.

The guiding principle for a session is that your body is
always moving toward health. Through a light touch, I will listen for any compensatory
patterns that may be present, and assist your body in
accessing its own healing capacities.

Come see what a session can do for you by booking an appointment.
I'm excited to see you soon !
