When I worked as a Postpartum Doula I would regale families with stories from my own journey through parenthood. The good moments, the hilarious, the learning moments, the happy times and the hard times. I found this really helped new parents to normalize that parenthood is super challenging, but it’s driven by a deep sense of joy and wonder; and always laced with love. It helped moms to realize no one is perfect, and that we also grow up with our kids. ❤️
Guys. We made it. Our oldest is 18 today!! I’m so incredibly proud of us as parents. We’ve grown up so much too! And we have raised an amazing young man who is strong, resilient, caring and kind. But I also need to share that I have a deep sense of sadness, mixed in with the excitement. How did it go by so fast? But also so slow? It’s confusing. I don’t like it. Lol! I’m really teary today. And I’m so excited to see what next big adventures are coming for him! But it turns out parenthood never gets “easier”. It just continues to grow and change you as a person too. ❤️❤️
💙Happy birthday son, I’ll love your forever. 💙
And for all the new parents out there, hang on for the ride; it is worth it. It’s hard, but it’s a beautiful journey. It goes by so incredibly fast in the end. You’re going to make it too! I promise. ❤️❤️❤️
