Well friends, we’ve made some big decisions, big things are in the works, and we’re feeling all the same nerves and excitement we felt in 2017 when we first opened our doors in Airdrie. It’s been one heck of a ride since.

Rose Gold 2.0 is becoming a reality, and we’re forever grateful that we get to continue on, thanks in part to the overwhelming generosity our friends and community have shown us in the midst of an unfair and horrific event. Y’all really pulled through. So come this fall, Rose Gold will be relocating and opening new doors in Grande Prairie.

We know this news comes with sadness. We will miss Southern Alberta with all our hearts, but the reality is commercial space rentals in Airdrie and Calgary are more than we can take on right now. On the bright side, it’s a real full circle moment. Courtney became the first and only APP member in Grande Prairie a little over 15 years ago, and soon she’ll be the only member there once again.

Some new faces will be introduced in due time, but as for the rest of the team: Jamie will visit as a regular guest piercer in the coming months, and Krystine will be taking some time away from the industry.

Thank you again, Airdrie, for an amazing decade.

An Update from Rose Gold Body Piercing

First and foremost…. we want to thank everyone for the incredible support, kindness and patience you’ve shown us over the past couple of weeks. Every message, donation, share and word of encouragement has meant more than we can express.

A special thank you goes out to everyone who has donated to our GoFundMe. Your generosity has helped relieve some of the overwhelming financial pressure we’ve been facing while navigating this disaster. The love and support from our community has reminded us that Rose Gold has always been about so much more than four walls.

We also wanted to provide an update on where things currently stand.

The fire has now been confirmed to have been the result of a criminal act of arson directed at an adjoining business. While Rose Gold was not the intended target, our studio sustained extensive damage. Unfortunately, everything inside our unit was affected by fire, smoke, or water damage, making it impossible for us to safely operate.

As a result, Rose Gold Body Piercing will remain closed indefinitely while we navigate the recovery process.

Many people have asked about insurance, and we wanted to be transparent about where things stand. Like many businesses in situations like this, the process is far more complicated than most people realize. Because this remains an active fire and criminal investigation, our claim cannot move forward as quickly as we’d hoped. On top of that, we’re facing significant challenges regarding valuations, with current figures coming in at roughly 20% of the actual value of what was lost. We are continuing to work through this with our insurer, but we expect this to be a lengthy process.

We know this is difficult news to hear, and we ask for your continued patience and understanding while we work through circumstances that are largely outside of our control.

One thing you may know about Rose Gold.. we may or may not be obsessed with plants. A majority of our plants were lost in the fire, but many of them (including a 60 year old jade) we are trying to save. Our girl Melina made a call to Sweet joan.co to try to see what could be done, and immediately they took over and repotted, cleaned and rehabbed our babies. We will see what makes it, but just another amazing human being standing up for us in this tragedy.

Today, the Rose Gold team packed up the items we were able to salvage and said goodbye to our studio space.

It was a day filled with boxes, smoke stained memories, long hugs, tears, and quiet moments between people who built something incredibly special together.

Over the years, these walls held so much more than appointments.

They held first piercings and milestone celebrations. Confidence gained and fears conquered. Laughter, conversations, friendships, and moments that mattered.

Rose Gold was never just a studio.

It was a safe place.
A gathering place.
A community.

Today, we said goodbye to the physical space that held those memories, but not to what Rose Gold means to us or to the people who made it what it was.

To every person who has donated to our fundraiser, shared our story, sent messages of support, dropped off supplies, offered help, or simply checked in on us during these past few days: thank you.

Your kindness has carried us through some very heavy moments.

To every client who has ever walked through our doors and trusted us with your body, your stories, your celebrations, and your healing: thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives.

You built this community alongside us.

To our team, thank you for showing up for each other with grace, compassion, and strength in one of the hardest weeks we’ve faced.

And to our legacy staff members who were once part of the Rose Gold family and moved on with love in their hearts, thank you for the pieces of yourselves that you left behind here. Your fingerprints are part of this story forever.

The fire may have damaged our space, but it did not touch the heart of Rose Gold.

That lives in our team.
In our clients.
In our community.

As we head home tonight to wash away two days of smoke, toxic fumes, and exhaustion, we do so carrying something far more powerful than what was lost.

Today, our Rose Gold family experienced something no business owner ever wants to face: a fire in our studio caused by arson to another unit.

While we are heartbroken by the extensive smoke and water damage to our space, we are incredibly grateful for one thing above all else…. everyone is safe.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the Airdrie Fire Department for their rapid response, professionalism, compassion, and hard work in protecting our community and preventing further damage. Delta crew, we love you. We are profoundly thankful for the firefighters and emergency personnel who were there for us during an incredibly difficult day.

To our clients, friends, fellow artists, and community: thank you for the messages, calls, and support that have already begun pouring in. Rose Gold has always been more than a studio; it has been a community built on trust, connection, and care, and we are humbled to be surrounded by so much love during this time.
