Friends for fitness is my workout strategy!

As the weather and the social calendar cools down after summer, I am so grateful to have more time for movement at the gym. However motivating myself and staying consistent with my workouts has always been a challenge for me. But when I have a friend to go with, the accountability and social piece that that brings makes exercising more fun for me.

What are your tips for staying consistent with workouts? I would love to know in the comments below!

Review time! This testimonial comes from a one-to-one client of mine. I was helping her balance her blood sugars as she was having lows. We worked together to increase the amount of carbohydrate-rich foods she was eating and added more snacks in the day to do this.

Like many people, one of her reservations about working with a dietitian was worries about someone telling her what NOT to eat and having a more restrictive approach. This is a real concern! But I don't practice that way and a lot of dietitians are not like this either. I try to focus on a more body positive and personalized approach instead of promoting restrictive diets. DM me if you would like to more about what it is like to work with a dietitian!

People ask me all the time if I think bariatric surgery really works. I do. It primes our minds and bodies to break the cycle of dieting because it forces us to learn a new way to eat and it physically and hormonally changes us to create long-term weight loss.

Its not the same as keto or Whole 30 or (insert latest FAD diet here). If you have struggled with dieting and don't know what to do next, consider learning more about bariatric surgery because maybe it's time to try another way.

To anyone who needs to hear this: you do not need to be perfect to succeed after bariatric surgery.

As we go into the holidays we are going to find changes in our routine with parties and family get togethers coming up. Give yourself a bit of grace this season and recognize that you might not hit your macros perfectly or that the scale might not move as quickly this time of year. And that is okay. Take time to be consistent where you can. Get that protein and fibre on your plate at meals. Drink your water. Play with kids, nieces and nephews for activity. Finally, remember to enjoy yourself!

Sometimes our friends and families don't realize that they are crossing a line. Even though they love us and want what's best for us, their own beliefs about "healthy eating" or body image can result in comments that hurt or annoy us. If you've found yourself struggling to set new boundaries with your loved ones after bariatric surgery, try some of these tips!

What are your tips for setting boundaries?

This webinar is all about showing you how to work with your surgical tool to get the best exercise performance. 🏃‍♂️🏋️‍♂️

You’ll also receive a sports nutrition workbook to go along with this event to help you put into practice everything we talk about!
