Has been a very long time since i have posted here. Bare with me. My message for 2026? Support a small local farmer. Why? simple. during good times (now), we need to support one or two or three local farmers. How? Not with dollars alone. Rather with donating, used towels (for baby goats, here), or old cabinets (Thanks Rick), doors, windows, 2x4 lumber, time to plant trees (Mike and Emily, Rick), w**d the garden (Jason), help assemble fencing (thanks Victor!), cash Donations.... Helping a farmer now, goes a long LONG way. Farmers do NOT forget. We farmers during good or bad times have a duty. That duty is to grow food. Growing food not for profit. Yet, to receive "just enough" to do it again, next season..... So today, buy something, call, email, visit your local farmer. Check in on them. Ask, is there something you can do.... to help. Could you buy something today, set a schedule to buy all season? need used items that could help with future projects, spread the word, $$$ donations ecetera ecetera. 2026 is just begining! In Canada there is around 260 000 farmers. Down from 272 000 only 5 years ago. In the USA, 2.1+ million down to 1.8 million now. The rate has continued to decline both in Canada and the United States. The pattern of the number of farmers in ALL of the western countries continues to decline.
Does this number alarm you? What can you do? What will 2030 bring to the World poplulation of farmers? 8 billion people now. and the World total population will be even closer to 9 billion people.
The World Bank, the United Nations the World Economic Forum all agree the number of the farmers will decrease further. Reading between the lines, reading their policies, the LINGO is also clear, fewer farmers are expected and also no plans to increase this number, rather (up for debate) the number is aiming to reduce the number of farmers in Western countries by half. WHAT?!?
Anyone reading this: Can you imagine 130,000 farmers in Canada by 2030? or 1 million farmers in the USA? Lets discuss......
(in the mean time, support your small local farmer, and ask more questions, discuss the details and the importance of limiting censorship on this topic. Yes! Apparently, of recent, this post is NOT allowed under Canadian law.....

3 year old Egg Laying Chickens are all gone now. We will be getting new ones in April or May 2024. How many people here are looking for fresh pastured, unwashed, multi coloured eggs for 2024? If so, where to buy them? Would you be interested in buying some from our farm in Arthur? Lets Discuss :)

2023 Season is nearly done! Winter is around the corner..... and perhaps its time to celebrate? We are "tentatively" looking at hosting a "meet the farmer" even January 7th 2024. Pig or Goat roast party.... lets discuss.... who's in??? does this date work?

February 1st 2023, What does this mean!? Kidding season is ONLY 4 weeks away! Soon there will be 100 kid goats being born..... an abundance of milk will be flowing. So much that there will be enough to start making Cheese, Milk, Yogurt and Kefir.
