Gotodoctor Celebrates Successes
and Platform Business Model Validation in 2023

December 29, 2023 - As the year is coming to an end, Gotodoctor.ca is proud to celebrate a successful year of growth including the establishment of a fully integrated digital healthcare platform model.

Some of the largest companies in the world are platform businesses, which host interactions and transactions among corporations and users. Different from linear and traditional M&A businesses, platform businesses bring together two or more groups of users on a digital network to create value for all of them. A network effect is created within these platforms as they increase the number and capacity of providers and range of services. Revenues are generated from fees and commissions for transactions on the platforms.1, 2

Since inception, Gotodoctor.ca has had the vision to become the technology platform that accelerates care for its subscribed organizations and members, while fully aligning with the Canadian public healthcare system. With access to care becoming more challenging and crucial over time, the company is able to realize this proposition and create a one-of-a-kind, Access Acceleration Platform, via its:

Real Care Delivery Assets - Gotodoctor.ca uniquely offers a combination of in-person and virtual healthcare through its 250+ CareBridge pharmacy and medical clinic service sites – supporting more medical conditions and removing the limitation of pure virtual care. Instead of creating a parallel private employee health system, Gotodoctor aligns benefit plans with the public healthcare services to provide cost-savings and ensure sustainability and continuity of care.

Access Acceleration Technology - Patient care data is scattered among public systems, insurance companies, general practitioners, pharmacies and others. Gotodoctor.ca has developed a patent pending technology, Service Engine, to resolve access to care challenges. The Service Engine is fully integrated with multiple Electronic Medical Records and physician care systems, insurance data exchange and service delivery repositories. With its care algorithm, Gotodoctor.ca breaks the silos between the public and private benefit services and consistently demonstrates the ability to shorten wait-time for its users.

This combination of physical assets and technology improves utilization and expedites access to healthcare services, leading to better health outcomes, return on investment for its subscribed sponsors and, ultimately, a healthier workforce or members.

Gotodoctor’s Access Acceleration Platform has gained significant traction and recognition over the past year. In 2023, the platform has been adopted by many of the largest national and international enterprises:

Enterprise Service Providers:
- Gotodoctor.ca established cross-border partnership with 1.800MD to deliver seamless access to physician care across North America
- Gotodoctor.ca and More Health set up exclusive partnership to deliver expert second medical opinion in Canada
- 100+ new CareBridge Pharmacy and Clinic service sites implemented from coast to coast, and the launching of yournewclinic.ca to enhance physician recruitment and resource management
- Established Hub and Spoke physician care model with Rexall Pharmacies
- Connected with Beniplus, a technology benefit administrator, to offer Gotodoctor.ca services
- Successfully expanded FHO family practice in Gotodoctor.ca’s flagship in-person clinic in Aurora

Enterprise Service Subscribers:
- Renewed and extended multi-year service agreement McKesson Retail Banner Group (IDA, Guardian, Remedy’sRx) as the preferred provider for medical clinic and physician services
- Expanded cardiology clinic service agreement with Novartis Canada
- Secured partnership agreement with SEB (Smart Employee Benefit)/Co-Operators
- Added new insurance and employer sponsors to the platform, including Fabricland, Automated Administration Services, and Quick Health Access/Green Benefits

The Gotodoctor.ca Access Acceleration Platform has established true integration and command among patients, providers and payers (public and private). It is the only comprehensive solution that enables service providers, regardless of their digital or physical setup, to connect and collaborate with enterprise subscribers so their services can be developed and deployed efficiently and effectively. As this multi-vendor, multi-payer platform model becomes more mature, in addition to expanding within the accepted provider and subscriber channels, the company will look to start offering its service to new industries, including healthcare artificial intelligence (AI) and small and midsize enterprises (SME).

“The Gotodoctor.ca team would like to thank our new and current partners across pharmacies, pharmaceuticals and insurance benefit industries, for their trust in us to deliver and accelerate care for their members,“ said Tommy Cheung, CEO & President of Gotodoctor.ca, “We are excited about what's in store as we continue to explore and develop the service and business opportunities with our Access Acceleration Platform in the coming years.”

Gotodoctor.ca Launches yournewclinic.ca to Support Physician Practices

September 14, 2023 - Gotodoctor.ca, a leading technology healthcare platform that connects healthcare and employee service providers to Canadian enterprises, is excited to announce the launch of a new recruitment portal tailored to family physicians and specialists across the country, looking to start or enhance their practices - yournewclinic.ca.

The decisions for physicians to start a new practice or transition to a managed practice setting is complex and involves much more than the availability of physical space and clinic layout. Gotodoctor.ca’s understanding of the needs of physicians and its management’s decades of experience in managed practice increases its effectiveness in physician recruitment and practice establishment. With more than a fifth of Canadians not having regular access to a family doctor, this portal aims to alleviate some aspects of this key national issue.

In partnership with McKesson Retail Banner Group (“RBG”) pharmacies, yournewclinic.ca features RBG Service Sites looking to expand their service capacity, beyond virtual care and attract physicians to establish in-person practices. Going beyond traditional recruitment websites, yournewclinic.ca allows physicians to investigate locations based on their personal practice needs and criteria, stay connected for updates and get additional practice support from Gotodoctor.ca team throughout the process. Close to 100 locations across the country will be available for physicians to start planning their new clinics, within the next few weeks of launching. yournewclinic.ca will be marketing to physicians locally and overseas to attract additional physician talents aboard.

“More and more Canadians and their families are affected by physician care access issues, as confirmed by the latest survey by the Canadian Medical Association”, " said Tommy Cheung, CEO of Gotodoctor.ca. “Gotodoctor.ca platform is a pioneering and scalable solution for its users to navigate and improve access to physicians and other healthcare services. We look to continue to expand and connect to even more health service providers, insurance partners and enterprises, in order to support their members.”

Gotodoctor.ca has established a network of in-person CareBridge Service Sites, with over 260 pharmacies and clinics across Canada, allowing its members to go beyond virtual care and access comprehensive in-person care from physicians, pharmacists and other health professionals. Combining these unique Service Sites with virtual care, digital health service providers, and its proprietary Service Engine technology, Gotodoctor.ca is now an effective and seamless healthcare system navigator for both private employee benefits and the public health services. About 1 million Canadians are now connected and have access to Gotodoctor.ca’s platform today.

Gotodoctor.ca's Expands Service in BC with a new Medical Clinic in Burnaby

August 30, 2023 - Gotodoctor.ca, a leading technology healthcare platform for Canadian enterprises, is excited to announce the company has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to acquire a BC-based medical clinic located in Burnaby, British Columbia. This new in-person clinic will be an addition to the 17 already existing CareBridge pharmacy and clinic Service Sites in the province.

Access to physician care continues to be challenging in Canada. According to the latest survey by Canadian Medical Association and Angus Reid Institute released on August 17, 2023, half of Canadians either don’t have a family doctor (19%) or struggle to see the one they have (29%). For those who do not have a family physician, 26 percent have abandoned their search, while another 38 percent have been looking for more than a year.(1)

Gotodoctor.ca has established a network of in-person CareBridge Service Sites, with 250 pharmacies and clinics across Canada, allowing its members to go beyond virtual care and access comprehensive in- person care from physicians, pharmacists and other health professionals. Combining these unique Service Sites with virtual care, digital health service providers, and its proprietary Service Engine technology, there is now an one-of-a-kind platform for members to seamlessly and effectively navigate between publicly funded and employee benefit services. Major Canadian business and insurance enterprises have joined Gotodoctor.ca and offer its services to their members, employees and plan sponsors. About 1 million Canadians are now connected and have access to Gotodoctor.ca’s platform today.

This new in-person medical clinic at Burnaby has a group of family physicians and also provides services to patients in Korean, Farsi and Chinese. All the existing physicians will continue their practice, with the opportunity to expand service capacity with additional physicians. The transaction is expected to be completed by early Q4 of this year, after the due diligence review process.

“Technology alone is not sufficient to resolve the access challenge faced by our patients and communities today," said Tommy Cheung, CEO of Gotodoctor.ca. “Our team has deep roots and experience in primary care clinic and pharmacy services and understands the requirements for operating and delivering comprehensive care. Gotodoctor.ca has created an integrated service delivery ecosystem that aligns with the public and employee benefit systems, and we look to accelerate its adoption to even more user partners and service providers.”

Gotodoctor.ca's Technology Platform Continues to Expand with New Partnership with BeniPlus

August 23, 2023 - Gotodoctor.ca, a leading technology healthcare platform for Canadian enterprises, is pleased to announce the company has partnered with BeniPlus, a technology benefits administrator, to enable its members to access the Gotodoctor.ca’s suite of employee benefit services.

The company has created an ecosystem that allows users and publicly funded and employee benefits service providers to connect seamlessly and efficiently. Its primary care service site network also goes beyond virtual care and enables patients to receive comprehensive in-person care from physicians, pharmacists, and other health professionals.

In the past 2 years alone, the company has experienced an increase of 7x in digital service provider integrations, which includes international providers such as 1.800MD and MORE Health, and 4x increase in service sites connections, resulting in 6x growth in the enterprise customers using the platform.

“The exclusive partnership with BeniPlus is another welcome addition to our technology platform as it expands our digital employee services and technology offerings to even more users" said Tommy Cheung, CEO of Gotodoctor.ca. “With the confirmed product market fit and significant traction, we will accelerate adoption and continue our mission to provide comprehensive healthcare solutions to enterprises and their members, using an integrated approach.”
