23yrs ago when we said I do we were truly different people. We had no idea what life would bring us, that “till death due us part” would threaten only 6yrs later and ultimately change the way that we look at everything.

We would somehow come back from that and so much else, one storm after the other, two ships in the night traveling side by side together through it all.

I know it’s because of who we are together. The duality and balance we bring. The grounded and the light, the strong and the spirited, the steadfast and the dreamer.

The best parts have been the messy bits when we truly see who the other one really is. When we uncover another layer and see the soul, the heart, the light underneath it all.

Thank you for leaning into this life with me, for doing the work alongside me - sometimes just simply with the goal of being a stronger healthier foundation for this life, our boys and one another. You’ve never been one to shy away from any of it and it’s been so worth it.

I’m beyond grateful for a true dance partner in this wild life. May this be lucky number 23 after all the lessons, healing and growth. There’s no one I would rather fall and rise with.

20 years ago today I became a Mom, and let me tell you - I didn’t land in that roll very gracefully. To this day there are moments I still get it wrong, but I have always owned up to that and been accountable in my own healing and growth; doing this for them, all those who came before me and any who will come after.

Together we have figured out what it means to be a family, how to navigate the hard times, celebrate the good and move through everything else in between. We have always had this team approach and I honestly think it was because of this old soul who inspired it.

My Libra babe who has always been a family man, so intentional with his energy, so fair and grounded in his approach to life and all his relations. There are moments when I look at him and see his father in so much of what he does. And in the next breath I will see me, my ancestors and the best of all of them together in one package.

I firmly believe each soul chooses one another to walk this life together. I see how he has helped us all heal so much without even knowing it or necessarily trying. It’s like each generation in our lineage gets better, lighter and more free.

He continues to teach us what it means to go after the things you love with your whole heart and how to always bet on yourself. To unapologetically be you and yet also take good care of the people you love. Happy birthday Max - thank you for picking me and helping me become the Mom and person I am toady. 💖

Everywhere around me the earth is being dug up, quite literally. And I can’t help but think of the synchronicity of that with all that’s being unearthed in the collective.

I felt this coming viscerally in my body. Every time the Earth cries I feel it, every time a woman speaks I lean in to listen and see myself in her. And any time a man I know digs deeper into his own healing work you better believe I cheer him on every single step of the way.

As someone who’s spent years healing from multiple traumatic experiences and held space for others in theirs, I know the grit, compassion and stamina it takes. But I also see now without a shadow of a doubt that when we heal from our own experiences it means we no longer add to the collective hurt.

A person taking ownership of their own shadows and suffering, even if that means unearthing them, is always better for it. They free themselves, their family, and others from experiencing that same pain. It no longer holds any power.

This feels like a call to unearth our pain and heal on such a large collective scale. It’s not pretty, it’s a lot and it’s absolutely exhausting, but if we can keep sharing our stories and listening, then we are doing this healing work together which always makes it lighter.

Not ironically, Lou and I began writing a book earlier this year unearthing all of our s**t - it’s so raw and honest that at the time when we began we thought that it might just be for us as a cathartic release.

But now, feeling the familiar rage and watching everyone open up and share so vulnerably - makes us feel like maybe we will share it one day too. I’m not opposed to exposing it all and letting it all burn down to the ground afterall. I’ve been through much worse and will keep rising up for every person who didn’t feel safe too.

Real talk - I just didn’t have it in me to create a pretty poster or follow any made up rules. As a woman I’m tried - but I will keep gathering us together in ways that feel aligned and hopefully both empowering and safe for you.

Our 6th retreat at Sacred Shores, and I’m still carrying so much of it in my heart.

One of the things we hear most often is how much people appreciate the interplay between Lou and I. His calming, grounding presence, the warmth of his hosting and the way he makes people feel at home. And then the ceremonial, spiritual, energetic space I hold with all of my heart and soul.

Guests have called it a beautiful dance between the two of us. One that feels so natural and yet so essential to what we hope to create, a safe haven for all to gather to find reprieve. An intimate experience of a retreat so each person can feel held, valued and deeply cared for.

This retreat, every person arrived on their own, not knowing anyone else. Each carrying something of their own, standing at the closing of a chapter and making space for what comes next. And yet, you would never have known they were strangers.

There was such an immediate openness, a willingness to share from the heart, to listen, to support one another, and to simply be together.
It is one of the things I love most about gathering in ceremony. How quickly the walls come down when we create a space where people feel safe to be themselves. How strangers become companions, even if only for a day.

Lou and I feel so grateful to be able to create these spaces, to witness what unfolds and to share the healing magic of Lake Huron with the people who find their way here with us.

Until we gather again. May we all find the spaces and the people who help us feel a little more at home in ourselves. You deserve that and always have a seat at our table.

The morning of our 6th retreat, and the moon is setting over Lake Huron. I love that this retreat landed right smack dab on the day of the Full Moon.

We will actually be between ceremonies, midway through our day on the beach, when the moon reaches her fullest. Stepping into the fiery energy of Aries, reconnecting with our own magic and power, just like the moon herself.

We are deeply connected to her, a part of this Earth and being here is always such a reminder that we belong to something much greater.

I am so grateful to this space for providing the most deeply aligned sanctuary, to the hosts for welcoming us back to anchor into the earth, and to the clients who keep saying yes to themselves and to the love we pour into these days.

There is something so special about creating space for people to slow down, come back to themselves, connect deeply with the earth and remember that the magic they seek is already within them.

Besides our boys, we know this is one of the most beautiful things we have created together. An offering from our hearts to yours. A day to gather, to breathe, to connect and be held.

We’ve done this twice now, and every time we leave the fire feeling a little lighter, a little freer, and a whole lot more alive.

There is something powerful about women coming together, barefoot on the earth, moving our bodies, letting go, laughing, shaking, dancing, breathing and simply being ourselves.

Fire & Flow is a space to release what you’ve been carrying, set your wild self free, and then land softly into meditation and a Holy Fire Reiki experience.

And honestly? These nights are so much fun.

They’re messy and joyful, grounding and freeing. There’s something about moving together around a fire that makes it easier to let go of how we’re “supposed” to be and just come back to ourselves.

As we step into a new season, Brittany Schmidt 🔮 Psychic Medium 🪽 and I are gathering for one more Fire & Flow this year.

Come move.
Come release.
Come laugh.
Come get grounded.

Two nights ago I had a dream that I was on this deck when my grandmother came up to me and shared an important message about the healing that I have been doing for our ancestors.

When I woke up, I remember thinking that I hadn’t seen her in a long time and wondered why now. In truth, I had forgotten that it was her birthday and like clockwork she began to show up.

Throughout her birthday I received both hummingbirds and dragonflies, which is how she typically shows up. And then I randomly booked a consultation with a person who shared her last name - Barnes which is not even a common one. Yet there it was right in front of me on her actual birthday.

On the 24th, we will also honour my grandfather‘s birthday so I have been joking with him that it’s now his turn to show up and that he has rather large shoes to fill given all the ways my grandmother did.

Spirit continues to amaze me in all the ways they can show up, no matter how many years have passed. The more we notice, honour and celebrate these, the more we receive and it’s such a beautiful lesson in reciprocity on this day where both light and dark come into balance.

This week, I’m honouring these two beautiful souls and all the ways that I am so much like them. They taught me to honour all of earth seasons and our strong connection to her. And they were such an example of finding joy and laughter even in the darker colder months and seasons of our own life.

Tomorrow, September 22, we arrive at the Autumn Equinox.

There’s something I love about the symbolism of the two 2s; a reminder of balance, partnership and relationships.

The equinox itself is a turning point, when light and dark come into balance. And as we enter Libra season, we’re invited to look at where we might need to find more balance in our own lives.

Where are you pouring out more than you’re receiving?

Which relationships feed your soul, and which leave you depleted?

And this isn’t only about our relationships with other people. It can be our relationship with work, with our bodies, with rest, with our time, with ourselves.

If you’ve been overgiving or overworking, perhaps this is an invitation to pause and ask: is this still nourishing me?

Autumn has always felt like a beautiful teacher of release and transformation. The trees don’t cling to what has served its purpose. They let go, slowly and beautifully, making space for what comes next.

This is also a season of harvest, of gathering what sustains us, giving gratitude for what we’ve grown and choosing where to place our energy next.

And just four days after the equinox, we welcome the Harvest Moon.

What a beautiful week to be in awe of the Earth’s changing season, to reflect on what we’re ready to release and to pour a little more love into the relationships, including the one we have with ourselves and the Earth, that truly nourish us.

May you find balance in this turning of the season.

May you release with grace, receive with gratitude and tend gently to the relationships, places and parts of yourself that nourish your spirit.

May you trust the wisdom of this season of letting go and becoming.
