Learning to use ride-sharing apps is a major milestone for building community independence! Whether it’s getting to work, a friend’s house, or an appointment, knowing how to use Uber safely is a vital life skill.

Save this post to use as your guide for your next trip!

🚖 Create an Uber or an Uber Teen account and download the app

📍 Decide where you want to go and find the address

🕓 Book a time for pick up in the app

📲 Share your destination with a parent or a trusted support

✅ Upon pick up - confirm the car colour, the make and the name of the driver. If applicable, you may have a 4-digit verification pin to initiate your ride

🙊 Some drivers like to chat, while others prefer silence. You don’t have to engage in any conversation if you don’t want to.

After drop-off, the app will ask if you want to leave a tip. This is a nice gesture for good service, but it is 100% optional and up to you.

The best way to feel confident is to do a practice run. Ask a trusted adult to ride along with you while you take the lead. Practice opening the app, checking the car details, and monitoring the route together until you feel ready to go solo!

Who else finds that the hardest part of a task isn't the work itself? It's actually the transition. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Whether it’s moving from screen time to dinner or finishing a project to start a chore, that in-between space can cause a lot of friction.

Life skills are all about finding the tools that work for your brain. Here are three ways to make your next transition just a little smoother:

1️⃣ Create a Consistent Routine: Predictability is the enemy of anxiety. When your day follows a familiar pattern, your brain doesn't have to work as hard to figure out what’s coming next.

2️⃣ Find a Constant: Use a sensory bridge for between tasks, like listening to the same playlist during a transition can provide a sense of continuity while the environment around you changes. 🎧

3️⃣ The 5-Minute Warning: Don’t let a transition sneak up on you! Use an alarm or a visual timer to set a 5 or 10-minute reminder. ⏰

Transitions are a skill, and like any skill, they get easier with the right strategy.

Which of these do you find most helpful? Or do you have a transition hack of your own? Let us know in the comments! 👇

There’s a specific kind of strength in the Aspire community, and it starts with the moms.

We see the patience that doesn't always feel like patience. We see the advocacy that happens behind the scenes. And we see the pure, uncomplicated happiness in the moments that matter most.

Today is for you. May your coffee be hot, your house be (relatively) quiet for five minutes, and your heart be full.

Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸✨

✨ GET TO KNOW ME ✨

Hi, I’m Becky, the founder and one of the coaches behind Aspire 💛

This or That — Coach Edition 👇

🌿 Quiet mornings or late-night brainstorming?
📒 Color-coded planners or chaotic sticky notes?
🎧 Music on repeat or total silence to focus?
💬 Deep 1:1 convos or small group energy?

My answer? A mix — because no two brains (or people) work the same way.

At Aspire we create a space where different ways of thinking are actually supported and encouraged.

What that looks like in real life:

✨ conversations where you can be yourself

✨ tools & strategies that adapt to the way your brain works

✨ a team that listens, encourages and empowers

✨ progress that is measured by small wins to reach big goals

Your turn 👇
Let's hear your this or that preferences!

Grocery shopping is something many people do every week, but it can feel like a lot to manage without the right supports. With coaching, individuals can build the skills and confidence to navigate the store in a way that works for them.

Here are some ways to feel more prepared and comfortable at the grocery store:

📝 Create a grocery list ahead of time and organize it by sections like produce, dry goods, dairy, frozen foods, and meat

🎧 Bring supports like noise cancelling headphones, sunglasses, and comfortable clothing

⏰ Plan your visit during quieter times like early morning or evening

🛒 Shop at the same store consistently to learn the layout and become familiar with the aisles

⏳ Set a time goal and shop for a few days at a time instead of a full week

💛 Plan a calming activity for after your trip like sitting in the car with music, having a snack or drink, or doing a preferred activity at home

Through 1:1 coaching, we support youth and young adults in building independence and feeling more confident in everyday community routines, like grocery shopping.
