Postpartum has a way of stretching you in ways you never expected. Some days you may feel strong and capable, while other days simply getting through the day feels like enough. Itโ€™s easy to compare yourself to who you were before baby, but this season isnโ€™t about going back - itโ€™s about growing into someone new. Meeting yourself where you are means extending the same grace and compassion to yourself that you so freely give to your baby. Rest when you need rest, ask for help when you need help, and celebrate even the smallest victories. Healing, physically and emotionally, doesnโ€™t happen overnight. The postpartum journey is not a race, and there is no prize for rushing through it. Honour your bodyโ€™s work, trust the process, and remember that this season, too, is worthy of patience and kindness. ๐Ÿค

Thank you so much, Dave, for your incredibly kind words. It was such an honour to walk alongside you and your wife as you welcomed your precious first little one into the world. Being invited into such a beautiful and life-changing season for your family is something I never take for granted. Iโ€™m so grateful I had the opportunity to support you both during such a special journey into parenthood.

Girl math is shopping before pregnancy because once youโ€™re pregnant, nothing fitsโ€ฆ and after pregnancy youโ€™re just out here hoping your jeans remember who you are. ๐Ÿ›๏ธ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

In those early postpartum days, your body is healing from pregnancy and birth while also adjusting emotionally, mentally, and physically to caring for your baby. Rest and slowing down are so important because they help support recovery, protect your mental health, and give your body the chance to heal properly instead of pushing through exhaustion. Taking time to relax, soak in the newborn moments, and receive help where you can is not only good for you, but also helps you show up more fully for your baby and your family.

Being three weeks postpartum has reminded me just how much our bodies go through during pregnancy, labour, and birth, and how important it is to care for and support our healing afterward. After carrying and delivering a baby, the body can hold so much tension, misalignment, soreness, and strain, especially through the hips, pelvis, lower back, neck, and shoulders. Seeing a chiropractor postpartum can help the body realign, improve mobility, ease discomfort, and support the nervous system during such a physically and emotionally demanding season. So many moms spend hours feeding, rocking, holding, and carrying their babies, which can put even more stress on the body while itโ€™s already healing. Postpartum chiropractic care can also help improve posture, reduce tension headaches, and support overall recovery so moms can feel more comfortable and supported day to day. As a mama, itโ€™s easy to pour everything into your baby and forget that your body deserves care too, especially after doing something as incredible as bringing life into the world.

For some mothers, breastfeeding can feel deeply emotional and even triggering because it requires constant physical closeness, vulnerability, and being touched for long periods of time. Past trauma can make certain sensations, loss of control, or feelings of being needed around the clock feel overwhelming to the nervous system. Some moms may experience anxiety, sadness, irritability, dissociation, or guilt while breastfeeding and not fully understand why those feelings are surfacing. Itโ€™s important to remember that trauma can live in the body, and postpartum can bring up emotions and responses that were buried for a long time. Every mother deserves compassion, support, and the freedom to feed her baby in whatever way allows both her and her baby to thrive.

Feeling so incredibly blessed to not only have such a close relationship with my momma, but to now watch her love my girls so deeply as their nana. There is something so special about seeing the woman who raised you pour that same love into your children. My girls are beyond lucky to be surrounded by her gentleness, wisdom, and endless care. Watching her with Dallas and Daisy makes me even more grateful for the mother she has always been to me. I never take for granted the gift of doing motherhood alongside her.

To be a mother is to carry both beauty and burden at the same time. As a doula and a mother of two, I have witnessed the strength in the moments people see, and even more in the moments they donโ€™t โ€” the tears, the healing, the sleepless nights, the worry, and the endless giving of yourself. Motherhood is soft and sacred, but it is also stretching, refining, exhausting, and deeply selfless in ways words could never fully capture. Today, I celebrate the mothers holding their babies close, the mothers who carried and lost them, the mothers grieving miscarriages, and the ones longing and praying for the chance to become a mother one day. I celebrate the women showing up every day with love, even when their hearts are heavy and their strength feels thin. Happy Motherโ€™s Day to every woman carrying the weight, beauty, heartbreak, and hope that motherhood can hold.

Two weeks postpartum, and Iโ€™m learning to give myself so much more grace in this season. Some moments feel overwhelming, while others feel so incredibly tender and sweet. Iโ€™m trying to slow down and truly soak in the little moments just as much as the big ones with my sweet girl. Iโ€™m also learning that caring for myself matters too, even in the smallest ways. These days may be exhausting, but they are also deeply beautiful, and I never want to forget them.
