🧡 National Indigenous History Month 🧡

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize, celebrate, and learn about the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

At 13 Sins Tattoo Parlour, this month holds special meaning as we proudly acknowledge that our business is Indigenous owned. Owner Angie Cook is Anishinaabe from Wikwemikong First Nation, located on the eastern peninsula of Manitoulin Island, Ontario.

Wikwemikong is home to the Three Fires Confederacy, consisting of the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations, and is the largest Anishnaabek community on Manitoulin Island. It also holds a unique place in Canadian history as the country’s only officially recognized Unceded First Nation Reserve, meaning the land was never surrendered or signed away to the Crown through treaty.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to listen, learn, reflect, and celebrate the resilience, strength, and enduring cultures of Indigenous Peoples across Turtle Island.

We encourage everyone to take time this month to learn about the Indigenous communities whose lands they live, work, and gather on, and to support Indigenous artists, businesses, creators, and communities.

Now don’t get us wrong… we know we needed the rain around here, but not indoors FFS. 🤦🏻‍♀️🌧️

Unfortunately, with all the wind and rain we’ve had, it has now officially made its way inside the shop. 🤬😩

As a result, 13 Sins Tattoo Parlour will be closed today while we deal with the unexpected indoor water feature nobody asked for.

We will keep everyone updated regarding the rest of the week as we assess the situation.

To those of you with appointments scheduled, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will be reaching out to reschedule as soon as possible.
