Let’s talk about pessaries. 💙
(Yes, really. And yes, we know it’s not the most comfortable conversation. But it’s an important one.)
A question I get asked all the time: Who are pessaries actually for?
Great question. Here’s the answer:
Pessaries are for anyone experiencing urinary incontinence or prolapse who has good pelvic floor strength but needs extra support.
Maybe that sounds confusing. Let me explain with something you already understand:
I’m wearing a bra right now. Why? Because I need extra support. That doesn’t mean my chest is “broken” or “weak.” It just means I benefit from a little extra help.
A pessary works the same way.
If you have urinary incontinence, prolapse, or symptoms of prolapse—and you’ve got solid pelvic floor strength—a pessary can provide that extra support you need.
And here’s the thing: I’ve seen pessaries be absolutely life-changing for people.
The freedom. The confidence. The ability to do activities without worrying about leakage or discomfort.
As a pessary wearer myself, I’m admittedly a little biased. But the difference pessaries make in quality of life? It’s real. 💙
This is part 1 of our Pessary Series. Over the next few weeks, we’re breaking down everything you need to know about pessaries—because this is a topic that deserves to be talked about openly.
You’re not alone. Support exists. And yes, it could be life-changing. 💙
