A backyard w**d walked into cancer research and somehow became the most interesting thing in the room.

The real detail is this.

In a 2016 study, researchers tested dandelion root extract on colorectal cancer cells and found it triggered programmed cell death in more than 95% of them within 48 hours.

That sounds like folklore wearing a lab coat, but the caution matters. This was cells in a lab, not a proven cure in people.

Still, the strange part is how selective it appeared. The extract hit cancer cell survival pathways while showing little harm to non-cancer cells in the study.

For a plant most people yank from sidewalks without a second thought, that is a sharp little plot twist.
