π Patellar tendon pain isn't always solely a knee problem.
This athlete developed patellar tendinopathy after a significant increase in volume in her sport.
When we assessed her movement, we found excessive foot pronation and poor lower limb control during functional tasks.
The goal isn't to "fix" pronation. The goal is to improve how the entire kinetic chain manages load.
π£ Better foot control
𦡠Better knee alignment
π Better hip stability
π Better load distribution through the lower extremity
These exercises challenge the foot, ankle, hip, and knee to work together while gradually exposing the patellar tendon to the loads it needs to become more resilient.
We are absolutely doing other exercises that are specific to patellar tendon loading, but this highlights the importance of looking at the full picture π§
Rehab is rarely about chasing symptoms. It's about identifying the factors contributing to overload and building a system that's better equipped to handle the demands of sport.
π Stronger foundation
π£ Better movement options
𦡠More resilient tendon
