🚫 Waxing Contraindications 🚫
For your safety, comfort, and skin health, waxing may need to be avoided or postponed under certain conditions. Waxing removes hair from the root and exfoliates the skin, so compromised or sensitized skin can be more prone to irritation, lifting, or damage.
Please inform your esthetician if any of the following apply to you:
• Using Retinol, Retin-A, Tretinoin, Differin, or Accutane
• Recent chemical peel, microdermabrasion, laser, IPL, or skin resurfacing treatment
• Sunburned, irritated, or recently tanned skin
• Open cuts, sores, rashes, eczema flare-ups, psoriasis flare-ups, or active irritation
• Active cold sores, skin infections, or contagious skin conditions
• Recent anti-wrinkle injections or dermal fillers in the treatment area
• Recent surgery or scar tissue that has not fully healed
• Use of antibiotics or medications that increase skin sensitivity
• Diabetes, circulation concerns, or certain medical conditions requiring physician approval
• Pregnancy sensitivity (some clients may experience increased sensitivity during waxing)
• Recent shaving that leaves hair too short to properly remove
• Use of strong exfoliants or acne treatments before appointment
✨ To prepare for your appointment:
• Avoid retinol/acids several days before facial waxing
• Avoid sun exposure 24–48 hours before and after waxing
• Do not exfoliate aggressively before your appointment
• Keep skin hydrated and healthy
• Allow hair to grow to an appropriate length for best results
At Five Senses Spa & Wellness Centre, consultations are always performed to ensure waxing is safe and appropriate for your skin type and condition 🤍
