Founded in 1977, we are Manitoba’s largest, independent pharmacy. Super Thrifty was founded in 1977 in Brandon, Manitoba by seven partners.

At that time, there were five stores with three located in Brandon, one in Rivers and one in Hamiota. There are now fifteen drugstores operating under the Super Thrifty banner, including one in Saskatchewan and one in British Columbia.

Heather is our inventory receiver at Hamiota Super Thrifty Pharmacy, and has been with the team for an incredible 44 years! This August, Heather will celebrate her 45th work anniversary! 🎉

Heather favourite part of the job is ordering giftware and discovering all the new items to order for the store throughout the year.🎁

When she's not at work, you'll find her tending to her large vegetable garden 🌱, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her grandchildren. For Heather, family time is the best time. 💞

✅Driving company delivery vehicle (clean driver’s abstract required)
✅Safely and efficiently loading and unloading goods and materials from delivery vehicles and warehouse storage
✅Picking, packing, and preparing orders for delivery, ensuring accuracy and timely completion (some heavy lifting)
✅Following schedules and adhering to delivery deadlines
✅Assisting with various warehouse duties (such as inventory counts) as needed
✅Fork lift operation an asset (training can be provided).

We dug into the archives and found this Super Saver flyer from 1995!

It's fun to see how some things have changed over the last 30 years. 📸Kodak film was a regular purchase,🍫 family-size chocolate bars were 88¢, and a 4-pack of bathroom tissue was just 97¢.🧻

One thing that hasn't changed? Hawkins Cheezies are still as popular as ever! 🧀

📍 501 2nd Ave., Rivers

Gilchrist’s Drug Store was a longtime Rivers establishment, having opened in 1942. In 1975 Joss March and his business partners bought the store from the Gilchrist family. It joined the newly-founded Super Thrifty family of pharmacies in 1977.

In 2001, a brand new building was opened, located just down the street from the former store. On the east side of the pharmacy is a specially designed mural featuring a look back to the early years of the town of Rivers.

Not only does Super Thrifty Pharmacy serve Rivers and area’s pharmacy requirements, the store is also a liquor outlet. In 1999 the store became the beer vendor when fire destroyed the Rivers Inn. Be sure to stop in and say hello next time you're in town! 👋
