5 Misconceptions about a Sound Bath ✨️
There are some misconceptions I hear more than others~
1. You have to empty or clear your mind of thoughts ~
If that's something you would like to do, by all means do it! But it's not a requirement to have a meaningful experience. I often try to explain it like this, when I'm in a personal reiki session my mind can go from, oooo I'm hungry what will I eat later? To me seeing a full past life experience of me dying in a field while at war 😅 And I just let it flow, whatever thoughts, emotions, sensations come, I let them. I keep myself open to receive healing, guidance, or just allow myself a moment of deep rest and it's the same with a sound journey.
2. As a Sound Practitioner or Healer you have to dress or look a certain way ~
You do not need to look the part to be taken seriously. I wear what's the most comfortable for me and that's usually black tights and a sweatshirt. I sometimes wear all black. I feel like your energy will be felt and experienced, and that's the important part not what you're wearing.
3. That every sound bath will be a huge transformational experience ~
Some people see colors, or images, feel emotions, some come with anxiety and afterward note that the heaviness feels lighter, some simply relax and calm their nervous system, and others feel nothing obvious at all. Every experience will be unique! You don't have to be "spiritual," believe in energy healing, or meditate. Sometimes the deepest shifts happen quietly, unfolding over days or weeks rather than one big breakthrough. Your body needs time to integrate the sound/light frequencies.
4. You have to "do it right" to receive the benefits ~
There is no perfect way to experience a sound bath. You don't have to meditate perfectly, stay completely still, or have a profound emotional release, simply showing up and allowing yourself to receive is enough. A lot of people note not being able to settle themselves right away and I think it's because we're so used to not taking time for ourselves. Our minds constantly going, giving to others before we fill our own cup.
