Back from Nepal!🌿
The first week of my trip my partner and I spent trekking through Langtang. I’ve done overnight hikes before, but this was my first multi-day trek, and it felt really good to be offline and just move through the mountains and be surrounded by nature. It was definitely challenging at times, especially the day up to 5000m, but also a reminder of how much the body is capable.
I really enjoyed the rhythm of the days. Long hikes, then arriving somewhere and having a big plate (or two) of dal bhat, sitting in tea houses with a cup of milk tea, seeing yaks and monkeys along the trail, and rhododendrons in bloom... But more than anything, I really loved the villages and the people along the way. Everyone was so warm and kind. Most of the tea houses are family-run, and you can tell the people there have a long history with the area. Knowing that the 2015 earthquake wiped out the Langtang Village in this region, and seeing the area now, you can still feel the impact it had. At the same time, the sense of community and resilience there really stands out.
And reaching 5000m after that final push felt a bit surreal. I was definitely starting to feel the altitude at that point, but once you’re at the top, it’s so quiet that you almost forget about it for a moment. You look around and it feels like it was all worth it. Then looking back down into the valley and seeing how small everything is… it’s a pretty amazing perspective.
If you ever get the chance to go to Nepal, I’d really recommend getting out into the mountains.
