What are you afraid of creating?

I was doing some automatic writing when this message came through about creativity, fear, and what happens when we keep trying to create our lives from inside the boundaries of what other people believe is possible.

As an artist and intuitive, I’m becoming increasingly interested in the relationship between creative blocks, intuition, fear and our ability to let creative energy actually move through us.

Sometimes the work isn’t finding more inspiration. It’s clearing out everything that taught us to stop trusting what comes through.

This Is Soul Therapy explores creativity, intuition and what it takes to reconnect with the creative parts of ourselves.

There’s something strange about time when you’re a kid in the summer. The structure of the school year disappears and suddenly the days feel enormous. You can kick off your shoes, run through the sand, lie around watching clouds move across the sky, or follow whatever has your attention simply because you have nowhere else you’re supposed to be.

I think that’s what I see when I look at Young & Free. It reminds me of what it felt like to have that kind of time, when you could move at the speed of your own curiosity instead of a schedule. There was room to wander, notice things, get bored, make something up, change your mind and disappear into whatever the day became.

I created this image using double exposure, layering clouds over water until the two almost become one. There’s something about the openness of it that takes me right back to that feeling of summer, when the distinction between an afternoon and an entire lifetime somehow felt a little blurry.

Maybe that’s part of what freedom felt like as a kid. Not having somewhere else to be. Just being completely inside the day you were already in.

If you hate what you’re making, it’s not creativity, it’s compliance. Compliance to rules, expectations, and systems that you feel you need to do in order to be seen, safe, and successful.

What social media burnout, external validation and our obsession with visibility can teach us about creating from intuition instead.

True story - I took this photo a year ago. It’s been sitting in my drafts for weeks, still not posted.

Why? Because “single photos go nowhere on IG”. A set of internalized rules dictating how I create and share.

Funny enough this is exactly what we talked about in this weeks episode of the pod - how creative blocks aren’t actually blocks they’re just commitments to internal rules and expectations and I thought what a great opportunity to share an audiogram from this episode and by doing so I’m now posting a slide deck instead of a single photo, but the sentiment is still there 🤪

This week we’re talking about all the crap that gets into your energetic field, and what it’s actually doing to your ability to think, feel, and create from an intuitive place.

The big stuff. The little stuff. The daily noise you don’t even clock anymore. Big T trauma, little t trauma. The people, the feeds, the conversations that leave you feeling like you got scrambled.

It all lands somewhere. And most of us are trying to create, make decisions, and tune into ourselves from a field that is absolutely full of other people’s energy.

So we talk about it. And then (because knowing is the door but moving through it is the key) I share something you can actually do with it, a creative energy ritual I use myself and with the people I work with.

June’s collective reading is asking us to stop planning and start trusting. Your soul is being asked to graduate. To move out of the overthinking and into the path that was always meant for you.

I recently told a client the prescription was breathwork.

She asked how long. 10 minutes? 20? Nope. 1-2 min, max.

We tend to think the solution has to be as massive as the problem. But your nervous system doesn’t work that way and your intuition really doesn’t work that way.

What actually works? Spiritual snacks: little moments of reconnection threaded through your day. That’s how you start hearing yourself again.

Not in the hour-long practice you never do. In the two minutes you actually will.

What’s your go to spiritual snack?
