One of the biggest misconceptions about corrective brow work is that we can simply tattoo over old brows.

In reality, correction starts with understanding the colour that’s already in the skin.

This client came to me with previous eyebrow tattooing that had healed to a cool grey tone, along with patchy brow tails from alopecia. She told me she rarely wears makeup and wanted her brows to look as natural as possible. She specifically didn’t want them darker and was happy keeping them the same darkness or even slightly lighter.

Before adding any hairstrokes, I used colour theory to neutralize the cool grey tones with a custom mix of orange and yellow pigments. Think of it like cancelling out unwanted tones before creating the final colour.

Once the old pigment was balanced, I carefully layered nano hairstrokes using a crisp 1RL needle to recreate the look of natural brow hair and add fullness where her natural hair was missing.

The goal wasn’t to give her a completely new set of brows. It was to restore what was already there and create something that felt effortless and soft for her everyday life.✨

Healed brows, restored 🤍

My client came in with previous microblading from 10 years ago, with some residual grey tones left behind as the pigment had aged over time.

Before creating anything new, correction comes first. I neutralized the cool grey undertones using a custom mix of Orange Crush + Pumpkin correctors to gently warm the old pigment, creating a neutralized foundation to work from.

From there, I layered ultra-fine nano hairstrokes with soft selective powder shading to restore dimension.

She returned 5 months later for her perfecting session with approximately 70% retention, which is very typical for her skin type. She describes herself as having sensitive skin that burns easily in the sun, which can sometimes affect healed retention.

At her touch-up, I focused on building more depth, refining dimension, and filling in any areas that healed lighter.

My client wanted fuller brows with a more defined square front but one of the most important parts of my process is designing for how brows will age over time, not just how they look on day one.

Because she rarely wears makeup, lives an active lifestyle, and works out often (hello sweat 💦), we chose a softer approach that would still feel polished without looking overly harsh bare-faced.
