𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲
If there are two things I never thought I would grow up to be, it was an addict and a tattoo artist. Honestly, they both were proportionately just not in my vocabulary. But life surprises you. Addiction does not discriminate. But the universe has a plan and through my experience into recovery, I began tattooing. People ask if it was my dream - I say “no” because it was a dream I couldn’t even fathom having. So life isn’t a dream come true; but 12 years clean, life is a phenomenal product of hard work, integrity, honesty and faith in the highs and lows that come along. Is it a life better than I imagined? It’s different. But I am happy, calm and utterly fulfilled by my life today and I would never wish a single thing to be different. I found love beyond my expectations, a life saving passion that I get to share with others - and, perhaps, most importantly… I found a way to cope with life on life’s terms, without reaching for maladaptive and dangerous coping mechanisms.
