Collagen: all the rage im regards to our vanity.
One of the most abundant structural proteins in our bodies, helping to give us structure, strength and elasticity. From our skin, hair, nails, bones and even blood vessels, it's mighty valuable.
As we age, collagen naturally declines, but there are other factors that can inhibit synthesis and degrade it aka like sun exposure, smoking, poor nutrition, chronic stress and even heavy metals.
Aluminum is heavy metal, an element we do not need to function and has been shown to inhibit collagen synthesis by interfering with enzymes that build collagen like lysl oxidase as well as nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and vitamin c.
It has an affinity to accumulating in the connective tissues and bones overtime as a result of how it affects specific vitamins and minerals. Aluminum has also been correlated to low-grade inflammation to degrade collagen faster.
