Well, Bella and Babe represents all of us beautiful mothers that only want the best for our babes and families! It is not a company nor a brand, simply one passionate mother wanting to create all natural products for her family and sharing it with her friends and community. When I became pregnant with my second child I started to look into various ways to make our lifestyle healthier. Of course, I
started to look at our food and what we were eating and started to slowly change our eating habits. Then, I started to take a deeper look at all of the chemicals listed in our home cleaning products and began to create my own all natural alternatives. With the idea of removing chemical toxins from our household, I then started to look more closely at the labels of skin care products that have the words “organic” and “all natural”. With some research I realized that although those products were much better than the chemical laden products that sit on the shelves of big box stores such as Shoppers and Walmart they still were not 100% natural. The reason for this is because they are still mass-produced products that need to adhere to Health Canada regulations to control any mold or bacterial growth and require a stable shelf life in order for us to have the opportunity to purchase them. Our skin is our largest organ and it absorbs everything we put on it and directs those ingredients into our bloodstream. So why would we be OK with slathering chemicals and preservatives all over it? And so, I began to create my own simple body care products such as creams, soaps and herb infused balms. I continuously spend hours upon hours researching natural ingredients to ensure that I am creating something that my family will not only enjoy but ultimately benefit from and remain healthy. All the products that I create have been tested on myself and my own family before I offer it to someone else. Over the last year, my journey has taught me that all natural can indeed mean “100% All Natural” by simply following a few common sense rules:
Rule #1: Water breeds mold and bacteria, therefore I only create products that are oil based* in which I can add antioxidants (such as vitamin E and grapefruit seed extract) to keep the oils from going rancid and naturally extending shelf life.
*handmade bar soap is the only exception in which water is used to dissolve the lye needed to create soap, no lye solution is actually left in the final result
Rule #2: Always use clean dry fingers/hands or small clean spoons/spatulas when removing products from containers and placing on your skin. This will prevent germs and water to get on to the product and cause bacteria to grow. Rule #3: Always keep your all natural products in cool dark dry areas. Should dirt and water have come in contact with your product, bacteria and mold will grow rapidly in warm and humid areas. I am a full time working mother of 3, so this venture is not one of profitability but simply sharing what I am passionate about. I create these products to share with mothers and their families in my community to help promote a healthy all natural lifestyle and the money collected from your orders simply cover the cost of materials, packaging and a portion of my time to create these amazing products for you to enjoy. With that said, please keep in mind, that what works for my family may not necessarily work for yours. Therefore, if you encounter any sort of allergic reaction to any product that I have created, please stop using it immediately and consult your doctor. Although the products used are natural, this does not rule out the possibilities of sensitivities and allergies, therefore please use at your own discretion. My goal is to ensure that anything I create is beneficial and healthy for our bodies, therefore I strongly encourage and welcome your feedback so that we can work together in maintaining and improving our health and lifestyles. As mentioned above, this is not a company but simply a hobby of sorts bred from passion and love, therefore I will post my creations on Facebook and take orders on products as I prepare to make big batches.
