Blood flow restriction training (BFR) is a paradigm shifting rehab intervention that is helping many patients recover faster and more fully from injury or surgery. Owens Recovery Science has been at the forefront of this movement, advocating for safety and evidenced based application since the launch of their certification course in 2015.
They’ll be offering their 1-day certification course at Acumen Health in Edmonton on  September 18th!

Meet Brian!

Brian started his health career at the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Health Physiology. He then moved to San Jose, California to get a Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. Brian treats various populations including elite athletes, weekend warriors, and anyone looking to improve their overall health. He is also an active member and Chiropractic Coordinator for the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sports Medicine Team, traveling and treating rodeo and bull riding athletes.
Brian has a passion for collaborative care – drawing on the strengths of those around him to create ideal patient outcomes. He believes quality care should attempt to achieve patient goals in as few appointments as possible. He takes time to listen and understand patient concerns and compliments that with thorough evaluations.
Brian is certified in Active Release Techniques, Graston Technique, FAKTR, and Titleist Performance Institute Golf Evaluations and performs diversified manual manipulations and exercise prescription.

Meet Dustin!

Dustin Oranchuk brings 13 years of excellent experience. His most recent, completing a stint abroad in New Zealand and Australia earning a Ph.D. in Sports Science, with a focus on neuromuscular adaptations to resistance training. Dustin Oranchuk has a deep background as a strength and conditioning specialist, and as a researcher in several areas of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and sports science. Dustin has worked with teams in the private sector, Canadian Olympic, NCAA, and U-Sports systems. He has also published over 25 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and presented them at several national and international conferences.

He is currently developing the Sports Science database at Acumen Performance so that we are able to treat and train all of patients and clients with the latest evidence based techniques.

He has experience working rodeo, basketball, swimming, football, and volleyball athletes.

Meet Cayla!

As a competitive athlete and outdoor enthusiast, Cayla Galarneau decided she wanted to play an active role in helping people achieve an injury-free lifestyle to pursue their adventures without limitations. Cayla completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology from the University of Calgary with an Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy from Mount Royal University and became a Certified Athletic Therapist in 2010. While at UofC Cayla supported the wrestling athletes preparing for nationals, and Olympic trials and won the ACAC championship working with the women’s hockey team. She spent several years working lacrosse.
Cayla has experience working with shoulders, hips, and knees. This includes treatment and exercise for sport injuries, before/after surgery, with osteoarthritis and more.
