What will your self-care look like today?

It has been a hot minute since I last posted here. I’ve had much on the go and am looking forward to jumping back into taking clients once again, however with my recent relocation to Calgary I need to get a few ducks in a row first.

I have been spending free time expanding my knowledge so I can be a better practitioner on all fronts!

In some of my current reading I came across a question that I encourage you to ponder…

What would I do if there was nothing I was supposed to do?

I find that even when “relaxing” I often find my mind drawn to what I’m supposed to be doing…but what would I do…who would I be if I had nothing I was supposed to be doing?

And perhaps one of the most difficult questions I’ve ever had posed to me was by an elder I was dining with, he asked…

Who are you?

Not what do you do, which is how many of us want to define ourselves, but WHO are you.

I still ponder this question regularly, and I have never been more stumped, perhaps this is our life’s quest, to discover WHO we are not WHAT we are.

I find these to be questions that force introspection…I invite you to delve within and discover!

How have your littles been managing over the last year? All the heaviness and seemingly continual change can have a huge impact. Reiki can help your child find a state of relaxation and stress release.

I take the time to fully engage with my young clients during our pre-talk and answer any questions they may have, so that they are fully comfortable before we begin. Children love Reiki and are like little sponges for the energy. One of my little clients told their mom the very next day that they wanted to come back. Wow, it has been a minute since I've posted on my page.

What an experience this past year has been! If you're like me, you have learned a lot about yourself and others in this time. I spent a lot of time looking within. What was truly important to me...how could I best serve/help others...etc.

I chose to view the situation as a time of reset and introspection. I embraced being given an opportunity to catch a breath and just be. To focus on what really mattered, and to let go of the fluff.

It was interesting because through all of this, I discovered many things that had once felt important were really not in the grand scheme of things. And, how much easier it is to take a breath when you just let go of what you do not need.

Although I've strived to maintain a low level of stress and a healthy balance between work and home, it became even more important to me over this past year. I meditated more, sat in comfortable silence more, I started writing again (a former passion that had fizzled out for some reason), and I am loving where I'm at!!

It has been long for us all and it appears it may be a bit longer yet. Hang in there! We've got this!!

Sunnier days are ahead, remember to breathe, and release what does not serve you. :)

Often characteristics and traits we admire or dislike in another are reflections of the same within ourselves. We tend to ignore or fail to acknowledge the negative traits and tendencies in ourselves, however, when we recognize them and use them as stepping stones to grow, great and wonderful things happen!

2020 has been quite the journey. I have made the choice to view things with my gratitude eyes. Blessings have been counted, evaluation of values has been conducted, and self-care has become more of a priority than ever.

These are stressful, anxiety inducing times due to the uncertainty we all feel, and I'd like to make it a little easier for you to put self-care closer to the top of your list.

Reiki is a great way to facilitate relaxation and stress relief...which is something needed right now.
