New workshop with Latifa from

We are thrilled to share the many gifts of plants, especially Nettle- from fibre to food and medicine.

In this two-part class, you’ll get an easy start on how to create cordage, raw fibres from Nettle and other plants. An intro to yarn, thread and fabric (and yes, even the process behind the trendy nettle dress)

Plus explore how to grow Nettle and get to know its medicinal and edible properties.

Together we’ll enjoy a tea and tincture tasting exercise, plenty of demonstrations and a chance to try out some techniques yourself. And each participant will take home a packet of Nettle seeds!

Hope to see you there! ❤️🌿

Natural fabric dyeing with Goldenrod- Solidago canadensis

Creates Colours of– warm cream, yellow, earth green.
Depending on the ratio used it will produce lighter to darker shades.

Goldenrod is naturalized, growing all over North America. It is considered a w**d, which makes it a perfect sustainable plant for textile dyeing. Autumn is the best time to harvest or forage when the flowers are in full bloom.

I’ve only ever used dried flowers to extract pigments, however, fresh can be used too.
The difference is not so much in the shade of colour it produces, but in how much of the plant is needed. Dried = less. Fresh = more.

Natural Fabric Dyeing with Red Onion Skins!

A kitchen staple that grows abundantly, and is surprisingly a wonderful dyer’s plant. Producing shades of beige - light brown.

As you can see in the photo, the shade can vary depending on the fabric. The top left is h**p, bottom linen. The top right is wool, bottom cotton. Also depending on the PH of the dye bath, along with other factors, it can result in different shades of pink-maroon.

Who will try out Red Onions Skins on your next project?
