Locked. Loaded. Slightly feral. šŸŽÆ

Tried a few different toys at the range yesterday and discovered I might enjoy this a little too much šŸ™ˆ

It was only my second time ever at a shooting range, and I’m pretty proud of how it went. I managed to hit the target consistently, scored a few bullseyes, and even landed some shots one-handed šŸ’ā€ā™€ļø

I hadn’t planned on trying the big guns, but… šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

In total I tried 4 different guns:
• Assault-style rifle
• Luger pistol
• Desert Eagle .50 caliber
• .38 Special revolver

Apparently the sight was off on the rifle, which explains why that was the only time I only landed 2/10 shots on target šŸ˜…

The kickback on the Desert Eagle was insane. Respect.

Our range guys were SO great — patient, informative, skilled, and hilarious. Quote of the day (directed at Austin):
ā€œAre you even aiming??ā€ šŸ˜‚

They both commented on what a good shot I was and were shocked I’d only been to a range once before. If it wasn’t so expensive, I’d probably be back today signing up for lessons to learn speed and accuracy shooting.

Which is funny coming from someone who has always said she hates guns and doesn’t believe in owning one… life is full of surprises.

Please hit up my GoFundMe to support this new hobby…

Kidding.
…not kidding. 😜

My Western Birthday Party!!

Count me in for anything that involves western outfits, horses, and backflips.

My friends understood the assignment. The outfits? Elite. The commitment? Questionable (we were frozen). The vibes? Immaculate!

Shoutout to heated gloves, 47 layers, and peanut butter whiskey for getting us through -15° 🄶

Big thanks to SHEIN for the fabulous fur coat (even if the clasp lasted a solid 10 minutes lol), the fun horse tee, the fleece-lined turtleneck underneath, the extra sparkly budget jewelry — and Jayson’s cute hat and cowboy shirt. She gave us fashion. She gave us chaos. She gave us value.

The real winner of the day? The FITS. People did not come to play. They came to SERVE western-core excellence. People SHOWED. UP.

Next year we’re manifesting warmer weather… and maybe skipping the first show since the second half was basically a replay after that loooong 60-minute intermission šŸ™ƒ

Anyway. Giddy up, it’s my birthday. šŸŽāœØ

2026 Vision Board ✨

It’s already February, so I’m a little late pulling this together—but I finally carved out the time, grabbed all the clippings I’ve collected, and let the images come together.

As always, I didn’t start with a plan. Certain words and pictures stood out, and others simply filled the gaps. I’m always amazed at the end of the year how the board ends up reflecting things I never could’ve predicted.

This year, my tangible goals are clear:
šŸ’Ŗ continue building strength
šŸƒā€ā™€ļø improve my running pace
šŸ”„ elevate my Hyrox performance

I’d love to race solo again and break 90 minutes—and take on a doubles race too.

Recovery remains a priority. Not just for performance, but for my mental health. Listening to my body. Giving it what it needs in the moment instead of forcing a rigid plan.

Travel will always matter to me. Africa—Kilimanjaro, safari, and a friend’s wedding—might not happen this year, but it stays high on my bucket list. Germany is happening this fall: castles, history, and of course Oktoberfest šŸ»

I’m finally getting the kitchen renovation started—something I’ve wanted since the day I moved in.

I also want to grow my connections, socialize more, deepen relationships, and explore creative classes. These are areas I know I need to nurture.

I want to do more and be more—but most of all, I want to be happy. To feel settled, confident, and truly enjoy my life.
Turning hopes, dreams, and desires into reality.

This is me, choosing more šŸ’•

Peachland, August 2025 — the almost-forgotten trip šŸ‘

I’m not sure why, but I never got around to posting these photos from our summer trip. And it didn’t feel right sharing my year recap without it.

I love the Okanagan—lakes, wineries, breweries, and sunshine. ā˜€ļø

We almost didn’t get to go. A fire in Peachland was so close to our Airbnb that the area was evacuated. It was hit or miss, but we took a chance, left before the official announcement, and hoped the area would reopen the day we arrived.

Halfway there, we got the confirmation—the fire was contained. šŸ™Œ

The hosts were… VERY odd and took quite a liking to us (and wouldn’t leave us alone šŸ˜…), but there was a pool and hot tub, it was close to the lake and town, and it fit the budget—so we made it work.

We tackled a treacherous hike where a fallen tree forced us off the trail and straight up the mountain. I’d already misjudged the elevation, we had the wrong footwear, and zero water. Yes… we were those people. šŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

The view from the top was beautiful, though softened by smoke.

There were delicious dinners, paddleboarding on the lake (Jayson got very sunburned 😬), and a day trip to the wine village in Oliver, hitting breweries and wineries along the way there and back.

On paper, it’s such a good idea: a bunch of businesses in a cute, walkable area, green space, live music, restaurants… but so many shops were empty, and I didn’t enjoy a single wine. šŸ·

It was a short, long weekend trip. Still—another adventure, another memory I’m grateful we didn’t miss. ✨

This first Hyrox Vancouver photo captures everything šŸ“ø šŸ’„

My cheer squad in the background, pushing me forward šŸ‘
The grit. The pain. The suffering.
Raw. Real. Unfiltered.

The sled pull almost took me out — mentally. I went in confident and it humbled me fast. It was heavy. It was hard. The rope stretched, I pulled, and the sled barely moved. I got in my head and that defeat followed me until the rower.

I wish I had photos of the burpee broad jumps. I was deep in the trenches of fatigue, overwhelm, and doubt. My Hyrox coach-judge got me through those last reps. After giving her what was probably a ā€œhelp me, I can’t do thisā€ face, I somehow found a huge jump to cross the line.

At the rower, my parents were right there again šŸ¤
I recovered, then emptied the tank for the final 100m. Standing up felt impossible. Running felt worse. But by the end of that next km, I felt strong again.

Farmer’s carry was MINE šŸ’Ŗ
I grabbed those kettlebells and took off, passing people and finishing the 200m in 2 minutes.

The lunges reminded me how close I was.
The wall balls felt easier than training — maybe the lighter ball, maybe my coach’s encouragement, maybe knowing this was the end. I could see Jayson cheering and I gave it everything I had.

I know I gave my best to every run and every station.
I also know I got in my own way.

I learned so much in this race. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done — and I’m so f**king proud of myself for taking it on šŸ„¹šŸ’–

Getting to the start line was a win.
Crossing the finish line was everything šŸšŸ’ž

Hyrox Vancouver Training:
September 29 to December 17, 2025

42 Days of training, 58 different workouts - not counting climbing 1-2x weekly, which I believe is my secret farmers carry grip strength weapon

2,936 minutes or 48.6 hours put into training

91.3Km & 539 minutes or 9 hours spent running outdoors and on the treadmill - not including all the Hyrox simulation workouts I did, which I didn’t track as a run

Hundreds of pounds of weight lifted, pushed and pulled

It seemed so far away back in September, but it actually went really fast!

Last week I reached my limit. My body is ready for a well deserved rest and decrease to my training schedule and intensity. But, without all this hard work I wouldn’t be as strong, prepared and ready as I am today! šŸ’ŖšŸ½

Arizona Hiking Adventure Day 6
Boynton Canyon trail to Subway Cave

Our last day in Arizona and last red rock hike.

Driving into Sedona is breathtaking. The color of the rock is such a deep red. The color of the landscape is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Definitely worth a trip!

Our last hiking day started off gorgeous… and ended with the biggest storm we experienced while we were there.

The rain had threatened to start around 10am, so we got an early start on our hike. It started to drizzle a bit, but thankfully stopped before we got to the cave & didn’t restart until after we’d finished!

No one stopped us from taking the hard climb up a small crevice in the rock, but told us when we reached the top there was an easier way we could take to get down.

The subway cave views were amazing and we met some really nice people there.

A hot tub in the rain and a Netflix show finished off our day and we flew out the next afternoon from Phoenix. Another hiking trip in the books, a phone full of photos and a ton of memories.

Arizona Hiking Adventure Day 5
Devil’s Bridge Trail, Sedona & wine tasting in Cottonwood, AZ

Today’s hike was my favorite from the trip!

Devil’s Bridge is Sedona’s largest natural sandstone arch and a very popular hike, featuring a mostly easy trail that ends with a steep, rocky climb to the bridge.

I was so impressed by all the hikers who respectfully waited in line, so each person or group could get their photo on the arch.

We really lucked out on this one, getting back on the shuttle right before another rain storm started.

There are 2 hikes that lead to Devil’s Bridge, we took the shuttle to the Dry Creek Vista trailhead. As we descended things didn’t look right to me, we were going down in a totally different direction than we’d come from, but Kate was sure it was correct… until she wasn’t…

We’d gone down to the Mescal trailhead

Thankfully the shuttle goes to both, so we were able to get back to our car. We weren’t the only ones who’d made the mistake… I sure hope that other lady found her car easily!

The rain was forecasted to last the rest of the day, so we pivoted from our original hiking plans and drove to Cottonwood to sample some Arizona wine. I had no idea there were wineries in Arizona before doing research for this trip!

There are tasting rooms in Cottonwood and along the Verde Valley in Sedona. The rain had scared most people away, so we were the only patrons at Bodega Pierce and Cove Mesa and only a few others were at Chateau Tumbleweed.

I was starving after a lack lustre food selection at the tasting rooms, so we stopped at G’s burgers in Cornville on the way home, which was a fantastic decision! This tiny town sure has some fun and interesting people!

Arizona Hiking Adventure Day 5
Oak Creek Canyon, Coconino Natural Forest & Cathedral Rock, Sedona

Our 1st hike of the day was through the beautiful wilderness of Coconino Natural Forest. This hike has multiple water crossing, where rock paths through the creek help keep your feet dry.

If you have water shoes, you can walk through the canyon, but we only went as far as the entrance to the canyon.

Sedona was our next stop. It was a rare hot day compared to the rain and thunder storms we kept experiencing. The hottest day of our trip!

We got into Sedona around 1pm and in the heat of the day decided to take the shuttle & hike Cathedral Rock.

Not only was it the hottest day, this was also the only hike we did with a decent amount of elevation.

We hiked straight up stairs of rock to a stunning view from the top. I was so thankful the shuttle bus driver had lots of bottled water for after the hike because in our rush to get another hike in I hadn’t refilled my bladder and was out of water.

Dinner that night wasn’t the best meal, but the sunset view from the restaurant was remarkable. The photos look like postcards!

1st hike of 2025!!
Fullerton & Sugar Mama Loop
9.7km; 348m elevation

What a gorgeous day to get out to the mountains and wow that’s a lot of brown for January!!

We wore spikes, but really only needed for 1/2 the hike at most because of the lack of snow. Especially along Fullerton, there’s barely any snow or ice, shocking!!

We took 2 longer breaks and a couple shorter ones, which had us finishing in just under 2.5hrs, a relatively quick hike, close to home, perfection!

Although I’d like to get out skiing… I’m not complaining at all about these warm temps we’ve been having!
