SUAP 2026 Summer Event has come to a close and we are grateful. What an amazing time we had together!

To our youth: Thank you for showing up, for your respect, participation, and willingness to learn out on the land. We are really proud of you.

We had open and honest conversations about mental health, substance use, and other topics that are sometimes hard to talk about. We did it. Together. Thank you for your courage, for listening to one another, and for building each other up.

A heartfelt Koana to everyone who made this event possible:
1. Guides and Hunters — Thank you for your hard work, for dedicating your time, and for sharing your knowledge to support the youth.
2. Everyone who rented their boats and ATVs to us — You made it possible for all the youth to travel out on the land together.
3. Everyone who dedicated their time to come out on the land with us.
4. All our wonderful mentors and facilitators — Thank you for your guidance, your stories, and your unwavering support.

SUAP HUNTING TRIP – KUGLUKTUK – REMINDER!

Meeting TODAY!
We’re heading out on our Hunting Trip this afternoon!

Meeting Details:
Please meet us at the front of the Community Complex Parking Lot
Time: Today, Wednesday August 6th at 1:00 PM
We’ll head out from there.

ATV RENTAL NEEDED
We are still looking to rent 5 more ATVs for today’s hunting trip.
If you are interested in renting your ATV to us, we would really appreciate it.
If your child or if you know any SUAP participants that can use your ATV, please have them bring it and we will still pay you for it.

Please bring it to the front of the Community Complex Parking Lot at 1:00 PM today to talk with our team.
We will cover rental costs and fill up the gas.

Important Reminder:
Dress warm – We’ll be out on the land for several hours today. Layers, good footwear, gloves, and weather gear are a must. The weather can change fast.

We can’t wait to see you all and spend the day out on the land together!

Youth, Parents & Caregivers – Come see us today!

To all youth who have already signed up, and anyone interested in joining SUAP in Kugluktuk:

Meet us today at the Community Arena/Hall Front Parking Lot
Time: 6:00 PM
Date: Monday, August 3, 2026

We’ll share program details, answer questions, and get everyone ready for a great week on the land and water.
Program runs: August 3 – August 8
Ages: 12 and up

SUAP program it’s a safe space to learn new skills, get support, and make summer memories.

We can’t wait to see you all there!

SUAP PROGRAM COMING TO KUGLUKTUK!
Starting Monday, August 3rd!

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and Community,

We’re excited to bring the SUAP Program to Kugluktuk!
It’s a safe space for youth to learn new skills, get support, and make great summer memories out on the land and water.

Program Dates: Monday, August 3 to Saturday, August 8, 2026
Ages: Youth 12 and up

How to sign up your youth:
1. Send us your youth’s name on Facebook Messenger and we’ll reach out with details, OR
2. Message us on Facebook or give us a call and we’ll connect with you.

We’re also looking for community helpers!
1. Youth Counsellors to support youth during activities
2. Elders to share teachings, stories, and guidance
3. Local Guides and Hunters to come out on the land with us
4. Anyone with boating experience to support us on the water with youth

All helpers will be financially compensate for their time working with the youth.
If you or someone you know in Kugluktuk is interested, please reach out!

We look forward to meeting all the youth and having an amazing week together!

SUAP HUNTING TRIP – RETURN UPDATE

Reminder to Parents & ATV Owners:
We ended up leaving a little late for our hunting trip today, so we will be returning late.

We expect to be back in town by 9:00 PM this evening.

Thank you to all the parents and those who rented their Honda/ATVs to us — we really appreciate your support in making today possible for the youth.

We’ll see everyone back at the Community Hall around 9:00 PM.

WEATHER UPDATE
Due to weather conditions, our Boating Trip thay was scheduled for today has been rescheduled for this Friday. We’ll share more details closer to the day.

HUNTING TRIP – TOMORROW
We are looking to rent ATVs for our hunting trip tomorrow.

📢 Holiday Closure Notice 📢

The Kitikmeot Friendship Society (KFS) Main Office and the Arctic Willow Child Development Centre (AWCDC) will be closed on Friday, July 31, 2026, to participate in an IQ Day.

We will also be closed on Monday, August 3, 2026, in observance of the Civic Holiday.

Our offices and the daycare will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 8:30AM.
