You're in the thick of it.
Your baby will only sleep on you.
Every time you put them down, they wake up.
And this isn't what you expected.
"Aren't babies supposed to love to sleep..?"
"Why is does baby sleep independently for long stretches?"
"Is my baby normal?"
These are all questions you find yourself asking.
But here's what you never thought about.
Interrupted sleep cycles are considered normal, even for adults!
And sleeping alone in a dark unfamiliar room would be considered dangerous in most cases.
So it is actually normal that your baby does not want to sleep anywhere else but with you.
You are their safe place.
And even more fascinating, for the first year, infant sleep is directly and deeply connected to their mother.
The two coexist together and mom's regulated nervous system acts as an internal compass for their baby.
That is biology and the way babies are wired.
So while you're sitting there wondering what you're doing wrong...
By going to your baby when they awaken and cry.
By letting them fall asleep in your arms.
By letting them sleep in your safety.
Just know, that you're doing everything right! 🩷
