Are you suffering from high and low back pain? Did you know there is a phenomenon known as Trigger Points in the body?

A Trigger point is a hyperirritable, hypersensitive tender point located in a tight band of muscle or fascial tissue which gives a referral pattern, and possible twitch response and causes muscle shortening.
For example the Re**us Abdominis trigger points, there are areas on the Re**us Abdominis that would have trigger points which can cause low or high back pain, and to alleviate it is to perform an abdominal massage.
The Re**us Abdominis (Origin) starts at the p***c crest and p***c symphysis. and (inserts) ends at cartilages of ribs 5 to 7 and the xiphoid process. This muscle allows you to perform crunches.

Rotator Cuff Tears/Tendinosis/Tendonitis

There are four muscles that make up the Rotator Cuff Muscles.
- Supraspinatus
- Infraspinatus
- Teres Minor
- Subscapularis

Common Occupations to Cause Rotator Cuff Tears/Tendinosis/Tendinitis
- Hair Stylists
- Construction Workers
- Car Mechanics
- Etc...

Hobbies
-Swimmers
-Baseball players

Causes
Repetitive motions in the workforce or falling on out stretched hand (FOOSH injury), or shoulder separations.

Types of Pain
-Pain deep in the shoulder
-Worse at night during side sleeping
-Pain when lifting arm away from the body or flexing.

Special Test
-Drop Arm Test

Hydrotherapy
-Moist heat to reduce tension
-Contrast therapy (warm water then cold water) this will flush out inflammation.

-Stretching to increase range of motion without pain

Never had a massage before? Here is some tips you can follow.

-DRINK WATER!!! before and after massage, this will help prevent soreness. It’s very important to hydrate your muscles and skin.

-Show up early before your massage, we have paperwork you will need to fill out, and this will give you time to use a washroom before you start.

-We need to know your conditions, allergies and medications, this is very important for us to know to treat you. Be honest on those forms, this will protect both of us. Some conditions or medication are contraindicated with massage. Talk to your doctor if massage is right for you.

-Please DON’T TAKE ASPIRIN or ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES JUST BEFORE A MASSAGE!! If possible take it after. If you take anti-inflammatories before a massage we could harm you.

-When you are ready for your massage the massage therapist will give you privacy for you to undress to the level of your comfort. Most people undress to their underwear. You will then go under the flat sheet and blanket, NOT ON TOP 😅! You will be fully draped and will be undrapped one area at a time for treatment. When your treatment is done take your time getting off the table you will feel euphoric after a massage.
