There is A LOT of mystery around death.

Have you ever been with someone who was dying and heard them talk about seeing someone who had already died?

A parent. A friend. A beloved pet.

Is it a hallucination?
A neurological phenomenon?
A spiritual experience?

Or something we simply don’t have language for yet?

I’m curious what you’ve witnessed.

Have you experienced this yourself or been beside someone who has?

Tell me your story.
Invite others to do the same!

I want to let you in on a little secret.

I think we need more spaces that help us remember how to be human.

So, I’m building a body of work.

One that values orientation over information, conversation over content, and practice over performance.

One that helps you understand your life from exactly where you find yourself.

Thresholds are not crossed by leaving our old life behind. They are crossed by integrating what the threshold has asked of us into the life that continues.

Thresholds isn’t just my brand, it’s my blueprint.
I am coded to become myself through repeated deaths of identity.

My curiosity is surgical.
I naturally refine.
I remove illusion.

Not physical death.
Psychological death.
Career death.
Relationship death.
Spiritual death.
Old versions of me MUST continually die for me to evolve and grow.

I notice what isn’t working and I want to restore harmony.
I want to improve living systems.
Death (physical, social, spiritual) is the doorway into the depths of the systems I am repairing.

Nothing can be superficial.
I WANT THE BEAUTY INSIDE TRUTH.

I am not here to convince you to believe something.
I am here to help you hold complexity.
I TRANSLATE thresholds.

My greatest growth comes through when in relationship with other people.
Not because they complete me, but because they reveal me.
Relationships are my classroom.

And the more I am able to inhabit my own experience, the more permission others feel to inhabit theirs.

I used to take responsibility for everyone’s emotional landscape because caring feels morally important to me.
And while service is my calling, self-abandonment is not.

I align.
I integrate.
I alchemize
I embody.

My medicine is ORIENTATION.
My greatest gift to you is PERMISSION.
Healing is a consequence.

You experience someone who protects.
Someone who nurtures.
Someone who creates safety.
This is my energetic reputation.

I am here to help you reorganize the way you understand your reality; to help you cultivate and embody so deeply that you are able to meet life as it truly is.

There are parts of my journey, that out of the deepest love and respect for those who were a part of it, that I will not go into details about.

But I want to find a way to share this part of my life that is undoubtedly the reason why and how I ended up here, in death and threshold work.

I want to share who I am so you can relate, you can feel safe in knowing you aren’t alone, so you can feel the human being that is behind these words.

It was raw, messy and very painful.

But I own it and want to openly acknowledge that it’s what brought me here. I wouldn’t be who I am now, and I fought long and hard to be at peace with all versions of myself.

I found beauty along the way.
I found truth.
I found honesty.
I found growth.

I found alchemy - I tuned it all into gold.
I keep turning my life into gold.

And now I get to help others do the same.

This is it!
This IS threshold work.
This is what we can do and overcome together.

If you see yourself in me, know that I see you too.
Know that you are worthy of grace, of love, of support, no matter what you are crossing and the unknown you are stepping into.

Much love to you,
V, xx

I used to think having a will was enough.

Until it wasn’t.

Because a will only speaks after you’ve died.

What happens if you can’t speak while you’re still alive?

In 2005, just after I got married, I received the worst phone call of my life.

My dad had a brain tumour.

At best, he had a year to live.

We thought we had time.

Time to be together.
Time to have the important conversations.
Time to make a plan.

We had two months.

The tumour affected his speech almost immediately. And as time passed, he began losing more and more of his ability to communicate, think clearly, and advocate for himself.

Suddenly, we weren’t just preparing for his death.

We were trying to figure out how to care for him while he was still alive.

Who could make medical decisions if he couldn’t?

Who could manage the finances?

What treatments would he want?

The truth is… we didn’t actually know.

We were racing against the clock to put a Power of Attorney in place for my mom and to make decisions no family ever hopes to make.

I share this because I think many of us believe a will is enough.

I know I did.

But a will doesn’t help your family navigate incapacity.

It doesn’t tell your health-care team who can speak on your behalf.

It doesn’t give someone legal authority to manage your finances.

It doesn’t communicate your wishes for your care while you’re still living.

The hardest time to figure out what paperwork you need…

is during a crisis.

Advance care planning isn’t about preparing for death.

It’s about preparing for life when life doesn’t go according to plan.

Do your loved ones know who would speak for you if you couldn’t?

End of life planning is no easy task.

It asks us to consider some of the most uncomfortable questions we may ever have to face, and consider what we want to experience should we have the opportunity to have our wishes upheld.

If our wishes aren’t known or documented, somebody has to make them for us.
YIKES! This can lead to some very messy and painful situations.

Avoiding these conversations does not avoid the decisions that need to be made.

A Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) order is one example of a choice that we can make in advance of our death. It is one small part of the conversation, and it is often misunderstood.

Many people imagine CPR as it appears on television - a life saved, a grateful family, a second chance.

The reality can be far more complex.

CPR is a physically invasive medical intervention. It can involve forceful chest compressions, broken ribs, electrical shocks, medications, and intubation. For some people, it offers the possibility of recovery. For others, particularly those with advanced illness or frailty, it may prolong the dying process without restoring the quality of life they would have wanted.

By declining a DNR at end of life, you are not choosing death. You are choosing the kind of care you wish to receive at the end of life; you are exercising your autonomy.

These are deeply personal decisions, and death asks enough of the people we love.
Whenever possible, let’s not ask someone else to guess what we could have wanted.
Let’s make informed decisions for ourselves and our loved ones.
