Have you ever wondered what your donations to the Carberry North Cypress-Langford Health Action Committee help support?

One important initiative funded by the HAC is the Paramedic Suite!

In September 2024, when our community was facing the loss of physician services and an Emergency Room closure, the Committee felt it was essential to help ensure continued ambulance coverage for local 911 calls. Shared Health identified staff accommodations as an important recruitment and retention tool for paramedics working in rural communities.

With the support of community donations, the HAC secured a fully furnished two-bedroom suite and continues to cover the rental and cleaning expenses. Providing accommodations has helped make Carberry an attractive location for paramedic staff and has supported the recruitment and retention of a full EMS team.

While accommodations help support local ambulance services, they do not guarantee that the ambulance will remain in Carberry for every shift. At times, paramedics may be "geo-posted" to assist neighbouring communities experiencing staffing shortages.

Today, Carberry is fortunate to have a fully staffed team of four dedicated paramedics: Anya, Marion, Eli, and Roy. Together, they provide 24/7 emergency medical coverage for our community and surrounding area. From 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. they are stationed at the Health Centre awaiting calls, and from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. they remain on call from the HAC-supported suite.

Thank you to everyone who donates, volunteers, and supports the HAC. Your contributions help strengthen healthcare services in our community in meaningful and tangible ways.

And if you happen to see our paramedic team around town, please help us give them a warm Carberry welcome!

We are excited to welcome U of M Medical Students to the Carberry Health Centre this week as part of Rural Week.

Throughout the week, students will spend time learning within our Hospital, PCH, and Health Clinic while gaining valuable experience in rural medicine and community healthcare.

A tremendous amount of planning and coordination goes into making opportunities like this possible. A special thank you to Carberry Town ACAO, Callie Sudak, for her incredible efforts in organizing accommodations, logistics, and excursions, with the support of the Health Action Committee organizing the busy scheduling.

Thank you as well to the Friends of the Health Action Committee for preparing fresh baking to help make the students feel welcomed during their stay in our community.

The Carberry North Cypress-Langford Health Action Committee is also excited to host a welcoming potluck supper for the students as part of their Rural Week experience.

We are grateful to everyone helping showcase the warmth, support, and spirit of rural healthcare and community living here in Carberry.

Our HAC is recognizing the dedicated work of EMS personnel during EMS Appreciation Week.

Paramedics and emergency medical responders provide compassionate care, calm reassurance, and critical support during some of life’s most difficult moments. Whether responding in the middle of the night, through challenging weather, or during emergencies big and small, their dedication helps keep our communities safe every single day.

Thank you for being there when it matters most.
