Sometimes clients come believing they need better techniques. And sometimes they do.

But often what's really happening is much deeper.

The horse is responding to unprocessed fear, collapsed boundaries, suppressed anger, or emotional fragmentation.

The horse exposes the gap between who we appear to be and what we're actually feeling.

As Equine Gestaltists™, we don't pass judgment. We don't tell people what they should do.
Instead, we lean into that gap with awareness, because awareness gives us choice.

And choice creates possibility.

That's where real transformation begins.

You can’t see everyone in this photo.

Most of the women in my group are sitting quietly inside the small pen, simply enjoying the peace and calm that has become such an important part of our time together.

And then there are the horses.

They had the freedom to be anywhere that day. They could have been grazing, standing in the shade, or somewhere else in the pasture entirely.

Instead, they chose to gather around us.

No one called them over. No one directed where they stood. They simply came and shared that quiet space with us.

I remember looking around at the women, the horses gathered close, and the stillness of that moment and thinking…

To me, this is what healing looks like.

Not necessarily something big or dramatic.

A little more peace.
A little more softness.
A place where you can simply be.

There are moments in this work that are difficult to put into words. This was one of them.

And it’s one of the many reasons I’m so grateful to have the horses as my partners in this work. 🐴🌿

From the Pasture…

We often think connection comes through words.

Yet some of the deepest moments happen in complete silence.

A gentle touch. Curious ears. A relaxed breath.

Horses don’t ask us to have the right answers. They aren’t interested in our accomplishments or whether we’ve got life all figured out. They simply respond to how we show up.

They don’t rush us.
They don’t try to fix us.
They don’t ask us to become someone different.

They simply invite us to arrive exactly as we are.

It’s amazing what begins to shift when we finally feel safe enough to do that.

This moment reminds me that connection isn’t something we force. It’s something we create when we slow down enough to truly meet another being where they are.

Maybe that’s why time with horses feels so different. They remind us that being present isn’t passive. It’s one of the greatest gifts we can offer ourselves and each other.

When was the last time you felt truly seen… without having to say a word?

🌿 A Sunday Reflection from the Pasture…

This past week has been hot, humid, and the flies have been relentless.

We do what we can. Different fly sprays help ease the annoyance, and the horses certainly appreciate a good breeze. Yet on those hot, sticky days, the irritation is still there.

One of the things I love watching is how naturally the horses take care of one another.

They’ll stand head to tail, swishing flies away from each other’s faces.

No one asks.

No one keeps score.

They simply offer one another a little relief.

It made me wonder…

How often do we try to endure life’s irritations on our own?

The horses remind me that support doesn’t always have to solve the whole problem.

Sometimes it simply makes carrying it a little easier.

As you move into this week, I hope you find moments of relief.

Maybe it’s a conversation.

Maybe it’s time with someone who helps lighten the load.

Or maybe you have the opportunity to be that person for someone else.

Watching the horses reminds me that we were never meant to carry everything alone. 🐴🌿

It’s funny how something as simple as a spray plane can transport you back in time.

Watching them this week brought me right back to childhood. Sitting along a dirt road near our farm, waiting for them to land, reload, and head back into the sky. I could have watched for hours.

It made me realize that some sights, sounds, and even smells have a way of reconnecting us with parts of ourselves we haven’t visited in years.

As adults, we’re often so focused on what’s next that we forget to notice the moments that quietly bring us back to ourselves.

Maybe that’s one of the gifts of slowing down.

To notice the moments that quietly remind us who we’ve always been.

🌿 You Might Be Wondering…

“If I’m not riding… what do the horses actually do?”

It’s a great question.

The simple answer?

They get to be horses.

They graze.

They move.

They rest.

They become curious.

Sometimes they choose to stand close.

Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they simply watch.

None of it is directed or rehearsed.

That’s what makes their responses so meaningful.

The horses aren’t here to perform.

They’re my partners in this work.

As we spend time together, I pay attention to what they’re noticing and how they’re interacting with you in the moment.

Their responses often become another part of the conversation, gently inviting us to become curious about what might be happening beneath the surface.

Every session is different.

Every person is different.

And every horse brings something a little different to the experience.

That’s one of the many things I love about this work. 🐴🌿

🌿 Things I Notice in the Pasture…

One of the things I notice most about horses is that they don’t seem interested in the story we’re telling.

They respond to what is true in the moment.

When someone begins speaking from a place that feels deeply honest, the horses often soften, become curious, or choose to move closer.

Sometimes, when someone’s words don’t quite match what they’re feeling inside, the horses simply choose to do something different.

I’ve learned to pay attention to those moments.

They invite us to become curious about what’s really happening beneath the surface.

We spend so much of life trying to be who we think we need to be for everyone else.

The horses have a quiet way of inviting us back to ourselves.

It’s one of the many reasons I’m so grateful to have the horses as my partners in this work. 🐴🌿

You Might Be Wondering…

“Do I have to ride the horses?”

The short answer?

No. 😊

In fact, there is no riding involved at all.

You don’t need horse experience.

You don’t need to know how to groom a horse or lead a horse.

You don’t even need to feel completely comfortable around horses.

We begin with a conversation.

From there, the session unfolds naturally.

Sometimes you’re sitting outside the round pen.

Sometimes you’re walking.

Sometimes you’re simply observing.

The horses simply get to be horses, and you simply get to be yourself.

If you’ve ever wondered whether horse experience was needed…

It isn’t.

We simply start where you are.

Sunday has a way of inviting us to slow down.

Not to solve everything.

Not to have all the answers.

Simply to pause long enough to hear ourselves again.

The horses have taught me that awareness doesn’t come from rushing.

It comes from becoming quiet enough to notice.

Notice what feels peaceful.

Notice what feels heavy.

Notice what brings you joy.

Sometimes all it takes is one quiet moment to notice something different.
