Luther Lather is a business born from the desire to promote and pay homage to the classic wet shave. Inspired by Grandfathers working at lumberjack camps and nickel mines, the old school gentlemen took time to elevate the daily r
itual as way to take pride in himself. The wet shave inspired me to craft an old school shave cream that is relevant, locally sourced & uses a curing process like a delicatessen or fine champagne maker would. The goal was to create and purvey a cream that was made with real hands, crafted in a way that seeks local, natural ingredients and doesn’t use any chemicals, plastics or pharmaceutical parabens. The second goal was to make a cream that doesn’t need pre-shave oil or aftershave balm. Our cream is a true shave cream and should be rubbed into the skin after the shave session as a moisturizer. Lastly, we wanted to create a shave cream that can be used with a straight razor, double edge razor, and even the modern disposable razors that people have at home whether its applied to face or body. Whether it’s your first shave as a young man or a seasoned wet shave connoisseur, our hope is that with our shave cream you will truly appreciate the experience. Many eras throughout history had men handling their shaving this way. This sacred wet shave ritual was practiced by Egyptian Pharaohs, Politicians of Rome, the Dandyism Era of London, Deep Sea Admirals, Wild West Outlaws, New England Whalers & California Gold Rush miners. From bootleggers to soldiers, to bankers to bricklayers, men of all trades & civic duties laid back in a barber chair to get a clean shave.
