This morning, PEINU President Kim Sears stopped by the Stuff a Bus food drive to drop off PEI Nurses' Union's donation in support of the Upper Room Food Bank.

This annual campaign helps fill the shelves for Island families when faced with additional expenses to get their children ready for the new school year, not to mention the increased costs all families have been facing recently. PEINU is proud to give back on behalf of our members and to stand with our community in supporting this important cause. 💙

We encourage our fellow PEI Unions and any of our members that have the ability to donate to please give what you can today! They are accepting donations at Mike & Andreea’s No Frills in Stratford until 6pm. Let's make sure this bus is packed full by the end of the day!

Today Alberta's Bill 11 takes effect and this morning PEINU joined the Prince Edward Island Health Coalition for a press conference in front of the office of Member of Parliament Heath MacDonald to demand urgent action to enforce the Canada Health Act and protect patients and our health care systems against the imposition of two-tier, American-style health care.

PEINU stood together with representatives from IUOE Local 942, Prince Edward Island Union of Public Sector Employees, and the PEI Federation of Labour to deliver a clear message in support of public health care,.

We are opening another short survey to collect members' voices for a presentation to government.

The Standing Committee for Health & Social Development is seeking our union’s perspective on the role of nurses within the primary care system, workforce challenges affecting service delivery, and the implementation of Patient Medical Homes.

While we will be focusing on these topics, we encourage all members to fill out the survey to ensure we have a wide range of perspectives to bring to government this fall.

Check your email or visit the News section of www.peinumembers.com to complete the survey.

Every PEINU member that completes the survey will be entered in a draw for 1 of 4 $50 Canada's Food Island Gift Cards. The deadline for submissions is Sunday Aug 30th at 11:59PM!

Behind every great athlete are the special people who support them on their journey!

Meet Jackie Robbins— the proud mother of Special Olympics PEI athlete Logan Robbins and a PEINU member working as a Registered Nurse in the Day Surgery Department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

PEINU drafted Logan to support his journey to the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta to compete with the Team PEI soccer team. Before Logan left for Medicine Hat, PEINU President Kim Sears got the chance to chat with Jackie to learn more about her son's journey and how important this opportunity is for him.

Want to watch Logan and his teammates compete? Tune in online at www.socmedhat2026.ca and cheer them on! Their first game starts Tuesday Aug 11th at 11:30am ADT.
