Prince Edward Island Association for Community Living

Prince Edward Island Association for Community Living Vision:
A PEI in which people with intellectual disabilities and their families belong and participate fully in all aspects of community life.

We are a family-based not-for-profit, organization helping empower people with intellectual disabilities and their families to advance inclusion in their own lives and in their communities. PEIACL acknowledges that the land on which we gather is the traditional and unceded territory of the Abegweit Mi’kmaq First Nation.

The 2026 Census is underway and every response counts!

Be sure to take some time to fill it out. A reminder that census workers are currently visiting households, and final reminder letters will be sent out in mid‑July to non‑responding households.

The census helps paint a statistical portrait of Canada's diverse population and the places
where we live by collecting demographic, social and economic information from households across Canada.

Canadians rely on census data for information that support important decisions that affect
Canadian families, communities and businesses. The information you provide ensures that the census accurately reflects Canada's changing society. Your responses are vital for planning services that support employment, education, public transportation, health care, and more.

How to complete the 2026 Census
All Canadian households receive a census invitation letter in the mail with instructions on how to complete their questionnaire. Completing the online questionnaire at census.gc.ca is secure and confidential.

Confidentiality and security
Statistics Canada places the highest priority on protecting your privacy as well as maintaining the confidentiality and security of completed questionnaires. Your answers are collected under the authority of the Statistics Act and are kept strictly confidential.

For more information, census resources, or assistance, please visit census.gc.ca.

Thank you, Moira, for your heartfelt and powerful remarks. Speaking not only as a mother, but on behalf of families across Canada who love and support someone with an intellectual disability, your words captured both the fear and determination that so many families carry.

Your message was a reminder that every life has value, every person deserves dignity, and that human rights must never be conditional. Thank you for sharing Michael’s story and for your unwavering advocacy to ensure that persons with intellectual disabilities are seen, heard, respected, and protected.

On behalf of families across this country, thank you for giving voice to concerns that matter deeply to so many of us and for your continued commitment to equality, inclusion, and justice.

Happy !

June celebrates the rights of the 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

When considering the rights of persons with disabilities, it's essential to meaningfully acknowledge that multiple identities such as race, ethnicity, sexual attraction, gender, class, and ability represent an individual’s lived experience and their human rights.

Diversity and inclusion is about the intrinsic value of every person. Let's celebrate diversity, courage, and resilience.

Canada must be a place where everyone belongs. Happy Pride!
