A little spring-to-summer appreciation

These planters were installed back in May, and before we dive into fall installations in just a few short weeks, I wanted to give this one its moment.

This client also happens to be one of my weekly indoor plant maintenance clients, which meant I had the genuine joy of watching this installation evolve week after week. From those first fresh spring plantings to the lush, full display it has become by late summer, it has been such a pleasure to see it grow and change throughout the summer.

I love that seasonal planters, much like our indoor installations, aren’t just about the moment they’re installed. They’re living designs that continue to develop, fill in, and transform over time. I think that's the best part!

But now, it’s almost time for pumpkins, autumn foliage, and all things fall 🍂

When you’re decorating a new space, there’s often that instinct to “just add a plant.”
Obviously I am in full support of that, but…

HOW you add plants matters.

Thoughtful plant design goes far beyond running to the nearest plant shop, grabbing the first “cute” one you see, tossing it in a planter and placing it in an empty spot of the office.

As a plant designer, every choice is intentional.
Light, layout, scale, texture, presence, planter pairings and long-term growth. It all matters.

There’s something special about being around plants on a day like today… 🌧️

When the world outside feels darker and heavier, the impact of greenery indoors becomes impossible to miss.

On my maintenance route today, walking into rooms filled with healthy greenery, I found myself lingering and appreciating a little more than usual. There was a sense of life and energy in the room that stood in stark contrast to the weather outside. The plants weren’t just brightening up the space, they quite literally changed how I felt.

What strikes me is how many people still see plants as just decoration. When they’re SO much more than that.

We’re wired to seek connection with the natural world. It affects our mood, our focus, our stress levels, and our overall sense of well-being and security, in ways that are difficult to quantify but easy to feel. Yet until someone experiences the difference for themselves, it can be hard to fully understand the impact.

I wish more people could feel what I get to witness every day… how a thoughtfully planted space can completely transform the atmosphere of a room and the experience of the people in it.

On a gloomy day like today, that connection feels especially powerful, and impossible to ignore.
