PLEXR® PLASMA
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PLEXR® PLASMA
If you have loose, crepey or aging skin and thought surgery was your only option, Plexr® Plasma is worth learning about.
Plexr® is a precision plasma technology used in aesthetic treatments often referred to as “soft surgery.” Rather than cutting the skin with a scalpel, the device creates a tiny plasma arc that works point by point at the skin’s surface. The goal is controlled tissue contraction and remodeling while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process.
WHAT CAN PLEXR® HELP WITH?
• Hooded and loose upper eyelids
• Lower-eye laxity and crepey skin
• Crow’s feet and fine lines
• Forehead lines
• Lines around the mouth
• Loose or crepey facial skin
• Neck laxity
• Certain areas of loose body skin
• Scar revision
• Certain benign skin lesions
• Tattoo and permanent-makeup removal in appropriate cases
• Overall skin rejuvenation
THE EYE AREA
This is one of my favourite applications for Plexr®.
For the right candidate, Plexr® can be used to tighten excess upper-eyelid skin and improve laxity around the eyes without traditional surgical blepharoplasty.
Published clinical research has reported improvement in upper-eyelid laxity and periorbital rejuvenation following plasma exeresis treatments. (PubMed)
WHAT HAPPENS DURING HEALING?
Plexr® creates very small treatment points on the skin. These develop tiny crusts as the area heals.
Expect visible downtime.
For a more intensive Plexr® Plasty treatment, I generally tell my clients to allow approximately 10 days for the initial healing process. Swelling can occur, particularly around the eyes, and the little crusts need to come away naturally.
Do not pick them.
Fresh skin underneath may remain pink while it continues to settle. Pigment changes, including post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, are also a recognized potential complication, which is why proper client selection, treatment technique, sun protection and aftercare matter. (PubMed Central (PMC))
PLEXR® PLASTY VS. CAT SCRATCH
I offer different Plexr® techniques depending on what we are trying to accomplish.
PLEXR® PLASTY is the more intensive option when the primary goal is tightening and contraction.
CAT SCRATCH is another technique I use for rejuvenation and improvement of skin texture and laxity. It generally involves less downtime than a full Plasty treatment, but the appropriate technique depends entirely on your skin and your goals.
PLEXR® SHOWER
This is a different approach again.
Plexr® Shower is used as a rejuvenating treatment designed to support serum pe*******on and skin renewal. It can be incorporated into a series of treatments and into my hair-rejuvenation protocols.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?
There is no responsible one-size-fits-all answer.
Some clients are looking for improvement from one treatment. Others may benefit from a series or future maintenance. The amount of laxity, treatment area, age and condition of the skin, healing response and desired result all matter.
Plexr® is not magic and it cannot duplicate every result achievable through surgery.
The goal is noticeable, natural improvement while still looking like YOU.
IS THERE RESEARCH BEHIND PLASMA EXERESIS?
Yes.
Published research has examined plasma exeresis for applications including upper-eyelid dermatochalasis, periorbital rejuvenation, certain benign lesions, xanthelasma and scar treatment. The evidence base is still developing, and results depend heavily on the indication and individual patient. (PubMed)
AFTERCARE MATTERS.
For my Plexr® Plasty clients, I use a strict dry-healing protocol.
Nothing should be applied unless it is part of the aftercare instructions I provide.
Universkin M is used during the first stage of healing, followed by Le Baume as the crusts begin to lift.
Protecting the newly treated skin and following your aftercare instructions is just as important as the treatment itself.
IS PLEXR® RIGHT FOR YOU?
That is what the consultation is for.
I assess your skin, the degree of laxity, the area you want treated, your expectations and whether Plexr® is actually the appropriate treatment.
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Sometimes a different technique is better.
And sometimes I will tell you that the result you want is beyond what a non-surgical treatment can realistically accomplish.
I would rather give you realistic expectations than promise you something your skin cannot deliver.
