Okay!!! So a lot of people have been curious about our trip so I thought I’d spill the beans here. Buck up because this is gonna be a long one.

Well… the trip started off pretty crappy I will say. We left two days later than expected, exhausted, a little defeated, and pretty apprehensive of our future. We barely got down the Easterville highway when our trailer popped off the hitch 2x!!! Thankfully some people helped us and we managed to get on our way again. This caused us to miss our first campsite booking and opted for a Flying Jay in Winnipeg. After a decent and much needed sleep we headed to Thunder Bay. Barely made our campsite there and had the pleasure of spending a crazy amount of money on McDonald’s (like why is there McDonald’s so expensive!) and where my kid was yelled at pretty viciously by 3 drug addicts actively doing drugs in the ladies washroom. Needless to say I think seeing Thunder Bay was a one and done trip for us. I didn’t even get a chance to try the Persian Donut that was highly recommended to me. 😞

Anyways by this point we were really starting to question all of our life choices as one does when they try to decipher what the universe has in store for you. We were thinking man tomorrow will go smoother I’m sure of it. Ehhhhh WROnG-o! We got into Sault St. Marie late Sunday night. Marc barely made it as we weren’t thinking gas stations might close early on a Sunday 🙄 (why are we so dumb sometimes?). Well Marc nearly ran out of gas but managed to limp his way into the city. I was ahead of him and when I went to fill up with gas I put my wallet on the roof of the car….well you can guess where this is going. Yep!!! Despite me saying to myself, “Amanda, don’t put your wallet on the roof you’re gonna forget it”… and then I said to that voice, “Amanda, don’t be ridiculous you wouldn’t do that!” Oh yes… yes I definitely did do that. Bloody forgot that damn wallet on the roof.

Sooo it’s not till the next day that I realize I have no bloody wallet, and Marc had 3 missed calls from the Sault St. Marie hospital. Turns out a Good Samaritan saw my wallet fly from the car and pulled over and picked it up for me. They must have worked at the hospital or we were close to the hospital but that’s where she turned it in. So my beautiful ID was then Facebook famous because before she turned it in she posted it in hopes of trying to find me. Thankfully she did! But not thankful that my awesome beady lil eyed photo was all over the internet. lol. Pictures below of said post if you’re interested.

Anyways, we are now on our way to Quebec, and the day was actually going really well. We were making good time and for the first time in the whole trip we weren’t rushing to make our check-in for our campsite. We were just about to Quebec City when I suddenly blew a tire, on some of the craziest busy highways I have ever been on. Those vehicles and big ass transport trucks do NOT give a F& that you are pulled over on the side of the road. So thankfully we had CAA and they towed us to the town we were staying at, Lévis, just outside Quebec City.

Everything was pretty decent, except for the fact that it was the day before Canada Day and everything was closed and would be closed for the next day as well. At this point I’m thinking, universe…. What are you trying to say? Should we slow down? What is the deal? So we took the time to try to enjoy Quebec City and we had a great time in plus 32 with 100% humidity in old Quebec (pictures below of our shenanigans). It truly was a great time. Got the car fixed after stumbling terribly trying to communicate with some amazing people who knew English far better than I have ever known French. And we were on the road again. To say we were nervous was an understatement at this point but we had to keep going. And keep going we did!

We ended up driving straight through to Yarmouth after that. It took us 18hrs of driving straight through but with every city we passed it seemed to get easier and easier. We have now been here for just over a week, and have successfully completed our first week of work, and I must say we are very happy. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear after all that, and I completely understand as I’d feel the same if I was in your shoes. I will say this journey has made me really think about our time in Flin Flon and how much it meant to us to be there. We met some incredible people there and we will truly miss you. All I can say is we feel as if we were fish out of water and we’ve finally made it to the ocean. I wish I could bring all of you with us, but life is like that sometimes, as it is in any good book, some chapters are sad.

We hope you to know how much it has meant to us to have the pleasure of getting to know you and to help you in your health journey, but as this chapter ends we look forward to seeing what’s in store for us in the future. Thank you sincerely, as we would not have made it here without your love and support. I hate saying goodbye, so I’ll say to next time Flin Flon.
