POV: Walking unassisted for the first time in almost 8 weeks… hard, humbling and still a work in progress!
There are constant reminders running through my head with each step: engage the glutes, heel/toe, bring the leg up, but don’t engage the hip flexor too much, let your arms move, you’re not Frankenstein… suddenly something as seemingly simple as walking feels like an anatomy lecture!
Lots of work happening with Hussein Houdeib Kinetic Strength & Performance as well as my physio to make sure I don’t create new asymmetries due to certain movements still being restricted as I return to walking.
Re training proper gait post op is a vital part of rehab and required to progress into more difficult rehab, return to work and eventually return to sport!
