Meet Brenda Short, one of our incredible Drop Zone Halifax 2026 participants.
"Why am I choosing to do this fundraiser?
This year, I am choosing to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary by taking part in Drop Zone. My husband Aaron will be there cheering me on (his 2 feet will be firmly on the ground).
My son Logan was born with a very rare genetic abnormality called L1CAM Syndrome. He is non-verbal, non-mobile and has had more surgeries than I can count (2 of them were Brain Surgeries). While he faces many challenges, he loves to try new things and does not let his disability define him.
Through Easter Seals programs, Logan has gotten to try many things that we did not think he would ever get to do. Horseback riding and Sledge Hockey are two of his favourite things to do. Camp Tidnish allowed him to attend a sleep-away camp for the first time, where he got to experience many other fun activities on his own.
Like many moms, my world revolves around my children. Logan in particular, has always needed more help, understanding and patience than his siblings. The programs and experiences that he has had through Easter Seals have given him a sense of independence and belonging that we never thought he would ever have.
Participating in this year's Drop Zone Fundraiser, by not only raising funds but also rappelling down a 22-story office building in downtown Halifax is my way of saying Thank you and giving back to Easter Seals because they mean so much to us."
Drop Zone isn't just about the thrill of rappelling down a building—it's about making a difference. Every dollar raised helps support Easter Seals Nova Scotia programs, including Camp Tidnish, where individuals with disabilities can build confidence, independence, friendships, and lifelong memories.
